Default Jim's 1980 Ford Bronco (evolution of a rock crawler) O.o

I needed a project to help me design a better four link chassis for my product line. I'm making a Ford Bronco. It's a beat up hard core rock crawler. not a lot of horse power but geared very low with lots of torque. There won't be a hood. The doors will be removed with an internal roll cage. Lights and winch on front and back. Rock slider rails and rock damaged body parts. Hidden esc and battery. Rustic paint, lots of details. It's a trekker with custom stock offset rims.

Here is the chassis, currently using stock lower links, 5.00" wheelbase.

It has amazing articulation, which is tunable to decrease to desired amount.

Here is a mock up, fitting the body to the frame.

Here I marked the interior tub where the rails line up and started cutting. I only had to cut the first part of the tub, an area around the transmission, and a small square for the rear shocks.

Here the wheel base was shortened to 4.875 but the lower links were not shortened yet, so it's a little jacked in the back. After the pictures I got the wheelbase down to 4.750" but may tweak it down a bit more than that. It is semi droop floating about 1/4" from full droop.

Please comment, and thanks for watching.
ps the frame will be for sale in a week or so.

I love it Jim! That frame is nice! Now I see where that motor was going.

Good Job cant wait to see the weathering you do to her, also want to get one of the chassis when they're ready. also is that a 1/24th scale body?

Cool Bronco! Frame has some good articulation. Be watching to see how the no doors comes together.
Are you going to print the winches and lights? Will you be selling accessories like winches, lights or toolboxes and welders to hide batteries ?

Your work is fantastic, I also want one of those chassis when they are available. What shocks/springs are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Rob, yeah I have been wanting to get a highly detailed motor in one of these builds for a while now.

Hi Bunce, I got the model in a trade on my facebook group (Micro Rock Crawlers) and I am setting up to sell the chassis. It shouldn't be too much longer. I will announce it here.

Hi MikeChino, me too, lol I want to go even farther on this one as far as weathered and beaten. Yes it's 1/24th scale.

Hi cjgotch, there will be scale accessories, but I'm not sure about selling them.

Hi Jason, I hope very soon. Thanks

Hi krazyglu, thanks, got it, they are stock shocks but I've changed the stock shock springs to Micro-T Rear, red (medium) in front, white (soft) in the rear. Part number LOSB-1601

Hi dubfreak, Those rims are stock offset and I'm getting full steering at full flex without any rubbing.

I had a reaccurance of a problem and am recovering, so there will be a delay, but I am committed to getting these products for sale. Thanks everyone for all the support!
