Hi guys, It's been a long long time since I haven't done anything RC related. So it was time to get back on tracks for the fun. I wanted to go full scale on this project but was scared to lose a lot on capabilities so I'm gonna try to mix comp and scale. First, find a 1/20 body. After some searches, Linderg kits seemed to be the perfect way to go. Dear ebay, tell me what you got. Wanted to find a Toyota hilux kit but as a pain in the ass to find so I grabbed this GMC kit : ![]() For the chassis, traditional SMC 5.5 from crawlerx and this is what I got so far : ![]() You can notice this big monster stroker motor from Danally and miclaws on MCT-6 rims. ![]() Here is what it should look like with body on it : ![]() ![]() I also decided to go quad steering on this truck so I'll need to change all the electronics to get a third channel. ![]() So here is all the shit I'll have to case in this truck : ![]() Two savox servos, decased orangerx GR300, sidewinder micro esc, Bastens quadsteer module and of course the lipo pack. A word about the Bastens module, it's a great cool little piece that can make you choose between front steering, back steering, front and back together, crab steering, etc. Pretty cool articulation for a scaler, isn't it ? ![]() ![]() ![]() For sure I'm gonna spend a big time to shave the body so those miclaws won't hit it... But for now, let's make some links and extended driveshafts : ![]() Wish me luck ![]() Cheers ! |

Free time and shitty weather brought some progress. Electronics are operational. Here is a short vid of the quadsteer module in action : (Sorry for the nintendo background sound ![]() The module and receiver will be in the bed and the sidewinder esc under the bed. I'm building a styrene toolbox to case/hide all the wires and modules. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very beast. I love 4 wheel steer rigs! What are you planning to do with the body? And how do you like those savox servos? I plan on putting those in my yota

Thanks for the feedback ![]() For now I'm still trying to figure out how to secure the body on the chassis. I'm building styrene mounts to use stock LOSB1706 pins : ![]() Then will have to shave it a bit to clear the tires or it will rub everywhere. For the paint I think I'll go for Tamiya TS48 gunship grey, TS6 matt black and TS17 Aluminium. About the savox servos (SH-0257MG), they're sexy and provide a massive torque in a really tiny size. But be careful, don't try to plug it in the stock rx/esc cause it will fry it. When I received mine, first thing I did was to plug it in the stock one and it didn't work at all, no response from the servo, then it began to smell strange and it melted the shrink tube I had around the rx. This servo just suck up too much juice from the battery. No problem when used with the orangerx, even with two of them plugged in ![]() |

I think your toolbox is a great idea to hide electronics I have the same chassis and am still wondering were to put mine you should paint it with the black textured paint or you should try bare metal foil that is used for model cars

how did you make the hinge by chance? I made a box for my bed as well for similar reasons, but I'd like mine to have a fancy hinge like yours. thanks |

I finished this project weeks ago but didn't find the time to post pics. Unfortunately I've been in a ton of shit the past two months. Been robbed at home and they stole for a large amount of money... Ipad, Iphone, laptop, gaming stuff, all my photo stuff (reflex, tripod, filters, etc.), jewelery, cash, etc. And still waiting for the "partial" refund from insurance. ![]() Since then, I spend my time looking for a house to buy or build. Will try to post some pics of the finished truck during the weekend. Quote:

Thanks for the insite. I will give it a go. Unfortunately my toolbox is already built, but a little re-work never hurts. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapascrap Last edited by tgh117; 04-27-2015 at 08:43 PM. | |
