Default Knuckle Busters Ford

I made a thread in the micro scale section, but this Losi section seems to get much more traffic so I figured I would post it here too.

I grabbed a 78 Ford model on sale at Michaels a few months ago. Finally decided to do something with it. I'm not a fan of the long bed that it came with so I'll probably try making a truggy rear or maybe a flat bed. I have a bunch of hobby wood and some small brass. I've never brazed anything before so I'll probably give a try just to do it.

Here's where I am so far. The cab is sitting as low as it can without sacrificing too much interior. I'll end up removing some of the wheel well to make room for the tires.
Eventually I would like to get one of Jim's chassis setups but for now I'll use the the Losi chassis. My wraith project sucks up all my extra hobby money

Update as of this evening...

Did some work on the bed of the truck. Shortened the long bed, shortened the tailgate, and dovetailed it.
I was originally thinking truggy or flatbed. But the parts are there for me to use, might as well use them right?

Default Knuckle Busters Ford

I would like to hide the electronics in the bed area, not sure what I'm going to do yet. I had plans to put the battery up front under the hood...then this happened..

Paint paint paint...I'm not sure. I'd like to keep it 70s era. I'll have to research it a little.

A little update. I decided on a wood bed. And then I scavenged some scale goods from another model. Here's the pics.

Started painting stuff. I chose to go with a semi gloss black for the truck. And probably a flat tan for the interior. I already gave the interior 1 coat of brown but I don't like the gloss finish it has. I have a whole can of flat tan ready to go. I think it will compliment the black nicely.

Pretty sure all the painting is finally done and I can start gluing things together for final assembly. Still not sure how I'm going to attach the cab and bed together. Might just use velcro.

Thanks guys.

Yes Mike, I just masked it off and sprayed very light mists of flat brown over the winshield.

Very nice man! Your making mine look bad! Haha

Where did you get your guy, and dog?

Im trying to figure out how to put the box and cab together as well. I was thinkn about glueing it. But i like the velcro idea. I was thinkn about velcroing my hood on too. Then i got to figure out some body mounts.

Another question..... you just going to sacrifice the weight in the back with ur battery back there, or you putting some weight up front to help out with that? I too wanted to put a scale motor in but I didnt kno wat to do with all the weight that has to be moved to the back.

That thing looks sick tho! Awesome job!

No way, Yours looks awesome too!

I have some velcro that I was going to use for the cab but its too thick. Maybe double sided tape, or some tiny metric nuts and bolts.

For now I will leave the battery in the back. It does add some extra weight but I don't think its anything to be too concerned about. If I try to balance the skid plate on my finger the truck falls forward every time. Originally that little metal plate I made up front was for the battery, then I decided the truck really needed a motor lol.

I decided to build a micro scale garage. The dimensions were cut to fit perfectly on a storage rack shelf where I keep my RC stuff.
