Thanks for the encouragement. I made a little progress. I will set up the steering parts for sale sans any chassis. I redesigned the parts so it is no longer required to be glued together. A single 2mm screw holds everything together. It is solid and works great. Here are some images of a 4 link frame using it. I just need to mount the servo and source a larger diameter pushrod, as 0.028" is a little bendy. I will change from styrene to Delrin now that glue is not required. In my chassis example it's using low profile shock/link brackets on the axle assemblies, and I do have a slight bit if binding in the front. I may have to go to a cross member shock mount in the front like in the back. Menace, lockouts are designed to replace the separate axle, and stub axle, with a single axle, making for a lighter, stronger, simpler assembly. It also slims down the assembly and looks more realistic. In my case I don't have the capability to make the metal axle parts, so I designed the lockout to use the stock axle, and stub axle parts, and just make it a cleaner more streamlined assembly. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Anxious to see what your plans are for mounting the servo, also i was looking at the front losing axle thinking of what would make it better, and looking at the bulky chubs with the big screws on the top and bottom that hang up on everything, it would be really cool if you could work some of your magic on them, just thinking out loud, keep the great work coming ![]() |

Hi Mike! It's been suggested, but it's not really feasible to make that part with the 3D printer. The shoulder bolts can be removed and replaced with 2mm screws. The problem is the ID of the chub pivots are a hair over 3mm, but all of the sources I have for 2mm socket head cap screws have a head about 3.5mm. Interestingly enough the 2mm screws that hold the servo are perfect with a 3mm head, however they are too long and need to be cut sorter.

I finally finished this chassis mounted steering servo thing. I mounted the servo in between the frame rails, and connected the .030" pushrod to the stock servo horn. It works great. There's a little flex, so I ordered some .040" music wire for the pushrod. I'm building a 80's bronco crawler to go on top. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() https://youtu.be/U8dZBO50OBE |

That thing is looking good Jim! I love the steering setup. Can't wait to see you finish this one. You always do great work.

I did some more work on the Bronco. I got the engine cowl installed and the 351 Windsor wedged in. ![]() ![]() ![]() I glued in the interior tub and added some reinforcing bars to help hole everything together. ![]() Then I cut the doors off. Next step is to cut the interior tub and tie it all together. ![]() ![]() |

I got the inner tub cut away, and most of the filler pieces installed. I sanded off the bronco emblems and side turn signals on the front quarter panels (rocks knocked them off). I cut away even more on the front wheel wells. Looking forward to making the roll cage. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
