Got a little bit more done the other night after work. Progress has kinda ground to a halt as I have worked 24 hrs in the last two days. Here's what I did accomplish....

Got the fender flares finished up and installed.

I also got my interior started. Not much room. Gonna have just one bucket seat.

I got the optional tailgate net painted. Exciting stuff!

Painted the dashboard.

And lastly, the roll bar is painted.

Lots more to come!

Good colour and great truck - nice work!

Are you making the bucket seat or is it part of the kit?

It's part of the kit. Just going to use (part of) one since the tranny takes up so much space. The Plastruct aluminum piece will hide most of it and will have shifters and a fire extinguisher mounted on it. Got a little more detail painting done after work, but not much. No work tomorrow, so I should make some pretty good progress. My next headache is deciding where to put the ESC. I also need to fab up a tray under the hood for the battery. Stay tuned!

Truck is looking pretty good! I got a lot of details buttoned up and did a lot of painting and spread lots of model glue tonight. The front end is pretty much done and the interior is 90% there, too. Everything is in there except the driver. I also got all the scale goods glued in the bed. Just about all that is left is to mount the esc, wire everything, and fab up a tray to hold the battery. I got a sheet of brass for that, and some pieces to construct a rear tube bumper. It will be soldered directly to the frame and painted black. I can't use the model bumper because it glued to the plastic chassis, which I am not using. Here's some more pics for your enjoyment.

Had to trim a little off my interior because my calculations were just a hair off. The Dremel made shot work of this.

Just a little more detail added.

Most everything in place.

Hey, puppy!

Front looks good. The kit came with a winch to go on the guard, too! Not done with that yet.

Nice wipers with this kit. I added the shotgun to the dash. You never know when you'll need it...

The bed is good, as well.

Gonna be a fun truck!!

Had to glue a spacer piece to my driver's torso. The last interior he was in sat a little higher, so I need to add some to glue him to the seat. Sat him in there to see if he'd work out.

I also picked up a new .050 tip for my driver. After eight of these type builds, the old one was getting worn out.

We have a runner! I got a ton of stuff done during this fine evening! I got my driver glued in place, and finally could install the interior in a more permanent fashion. I simply drilled two holes through the bed, cab, and the interior and after carefully making sure everything was lined up, and secured it all with screws.

I also got my rear bumper cut to length, made brackets to secure it to the frame, soldered it on, and gave it all the same paint treatment as the frame. Came out pretty nice!

After that, I did a lot of splicing and soldering and got all the components wired up. The ESC is secured to the underside of the bed with 3M double sided tape.

Once I got everything hooked up, I plugged in a battery and fine tuned the throttle and centered up the steering with my DX4R pro radio.

I headed over to my crawling course on the other side of the basement and had a little fun! Truck works really well. I was pretty meticulous building it; getting each part to work well before moving on to the next task. Here's the proof!

Bumper components made. Decided afterwards to make it a double tube and I also ditched the tailgate net. It left too much of a gap, in my opinion.

Can't see the gap, but here's the bumper in its raw form.

Looks better with the full tailgate and some paint.

Full tail end shot.

Driver position finalized.

ESC connected and wires tucked away.

2s lipo tucked under the hood.

Other side is done! Just have to finish painting the (fake) winch, and make the battery tray. Should get in some play time with the new rig tomorrow night!

Alright! She's a completed runner! I got the final touches done. I finished painting the winch up and added a piece of string with a hook on the end for some realism and I got my battery tray made and installed. I need a better torch, though. I have just been using a simple bic torch candle lighter. Works for awhile, but gets cranky with prolonged use. I think when I get back from vacation, I will invest in something a little better. This is my first try at building a frame from scratch, but it won't be my last! Pretty cool. I even had a little time to do some driving and snapped some action shots. Just enough time to slip into bed before wifey wakes up. No work till midnight tonight. The day will be spent snoozing!

Battery tray components.

First piece in. Scuffed the joints for better adhesion.

Tray soldered in. Added a piece of Velcro to hold the battery in place.

Snug as a bug.

Don't need anything to hold the hood on. Almost hard to remove, it fits so perfect!

Winch painted.

And accessory added. Necklace clasp looks pretty good, no?

Got the new rig fired up and the basement crawling course fully set up. Cleaned up the workshop some, too. Leaving for vacation to Hilton Head on Friday! Always nice to come home to a clean shop!

Truck was pretty good. Still need to stretch those rear links some and also play with ride height just a little. Tire rub was the only flaw. Might need to make a bracket to hold the hood on a bit mor, too. Came off three times in rollovers. Guess if I kept it on the wheels more, that wouldn't be a problem. LOL!

Clean workbench, aaaahhhh.

All of my rigs tucked in bed.

Got in some late night basement crawling action after a short day at work and the football game. Finally lengthened the wheelbase a little by unthread ing the rear links a few turns. Much better now. Goes up some tough obstacles!

Lost the bumper guard after a bit, but there's no stopping it from collisions. Boy, an all brass front end would be sweet! Hmmmm...

You might know of this already, but you can use a key card retractor thingo as a winch for these little guys. Then you could run the line through the non-operational winch on your bumper for great looks and functionality
