The electronics have been cheapened a bunch, but it looks like the Losi's stuff can be dropped in if so desired.

They are very similar though, and Banggood offers a brass frame that should work with it. For the price, it's probably worth it, especially for the kids. That way they won't steal dads Losi.

I picked up a gently used ECX 1/24 Temper for my 3 year old. They are pretty awesome for the price. All my 1/10 stuff is a little much for him, but he can drive this little crawler just fine. He can not get enough of it. He has had MANY cheap RCs that he lost interest in/broke almost immediately. He has quite a "boneyard" of them. The ECX has "survived" him for over a week now. I just need to pick up a couple higher capacity batteries. The stock one last about 10-12 minutes on a full charge.

I picked up one of these as something to fiddle with. Quality looks good. I did have a body with poorly drilled holes causing the body to sit slightly crooked - horizon replaced it, no questions asked. Servo is the same size as an HS65. Looks like an easy conversion to 4ws since the axles are identical. A little slow with the stock battery, but a 2s 180 fits in the holder and gives it a lot more spunk, and wakes up the servo as well. The one glaring drawback I see is that the servo can hit the front shocks and bind the suspension. I suspect there's not much to be done about that considering the car's size. Overall, fun little desktop rig.

I saw one of these at my local hobbytown and was not impressed. It does have a nice price tag, but like the guy above me stated, u get what you pay for. IMO it can't really be compared to a Micro Rock Crawler or Trekker because its simply of lesser quality all around...

still though, with some mods anything can be made great

If you're looking to stay under $100, I would recommend the Sumo Crawler or even a used LOSI as you will probably be happier with the overall quality and the extra bucks will be worth it....

Any specific examples of the questionable quality? I'd like to know what I'm missing.

On mine the servo literally fell apart the first time I used it. Also the controls have no low speed response, I have to pull the trigger half way before it will jump forward. No good for slow crawling. Also the motor feels a little week, and in stock form the links bind so bad there's no articulation. The only articulation it had was from the axles swinging side to side. That being said, I'm still using the axles, motor, and tranny for a scale build project. But I won't be buying another in the future.

I didn't get to drive the one I saw, but I did play with it and like he said above, the links bind and the plastic just feels like lower quality. The throttle response that he mentioned would bug the crap out of me! I like my RC with excellent throttle response and proportional. I'm sure the stock servo is also crap, even the Losi one sucks once weight is added. Also, the rubber on the tires doesn't seem as soft as other options out there. All those are fixable things though! You also won't be able to find aluminum upgrades like you can with Losi.. Keep is updated on the build though, would like to see this one improved.

To be honest, I thought the tires to be the best part of this thing! They're soft and grip well, although they are a bit brittle. I've had a set of HSP tires (same thing) for about a year now, and they are cracking a little. They are not as nice as RC4WD tires, but much softer than the stiff stock Trekker tires.
