Default 1/20 Specter Frame!

Has transmission and upper links integrated into the chassis. First image shows the comparison to the 1/25th scale chassis kits I offer. The second is a rough mock up of the chassis. The third image is the finished chassis ready for a test print.

Any plans on offering these in the various body styles like the 1/25's?

Thanks for the comments! I don't plan to make the other chassis designs any time soon. I really depends on demand. The truck version is second in popularity and the fastback version was never very popular. These larger tube frames are pretty expensive. I figure 3d printing will continue to get stronger and more detailed, and the prices will continue to fall. So I will continue to make these parts available. I am planning some new frame designs too.

My first print of this chassis will arrive today. My plans re to document the build using losi, sumo, and ambush drive trains. My ambush arrived a couple days ago. I may try to do rc4wd build, but first I have to make the axles suck less...

I ordered a 1/20 scale specter yesterday, I almost pulled the trigger on the 1/16 setups. Can't wait for it to show up and we'll see what I can't do with it.

Hey Adam, excellent! I just got started on building mine up, but had some distractions to deal with. I should be back on it this weekend. Thanks!!!

Man I'm looking forward to this one. Have any of these made it into a completed build yet? I'm curious to see how much bigger they look compared to the smaller version.

Jump in XSRC, the water's fine.

Here is a quick look at the 1/20 Specter, fully sprung with Losi Trail Trekker gear. I need to lower it a bit by using Micro-T springs, or cutting the stock springs. The wheelbase is about 6.125". It has gobs of flex if you're into that sort of thing. Thanks for watching.

Got the 1/20 Specter lowered a bit to semi droop by cutting three loops off the shock springs. The shocks are mounted to the highest position on the frame. I think I need to lower them a bit because the front tires are all over the hood tubing in flex. It's capable of a bic lighter flex, well, to the gas valve anyway. This is shown using 1/4" offset rims on Trekker axles. The Losi transmission is oriented with the motor pointing forward. A 130 motor upgrade will fit, but the motor does just make contact to the lower dash tubing. I can turn it around so the motor points to the rear. This would completely open the drivers side for a driver.

Hi Adam, I would like to see a sumo version! I have to add the Ambush Transmission to it as well.

The guys on my facebook group asked me to swap the Losi trns around to accommodate 180 motors. So, I have made some changes to the 1/20th scale Specter. In this new version the upper link mounts have been moved inward about .06" to better fit losi axles, and I beefed up the front shock mount a bit. The big change is the Losi trans has been turned around to face the motor rearward. I uploaded this new version to shapeways today. Thanks for watching.

Hey Jim, looks like a no go on the redcat axles. They would need mods to them and a couple of good changes to the chassis. Upper links are I think the deal breaker, the mounts are no doubt made for losi and almost impossible to mod into redcat axles. I've gone over and over to think of a simple way to fix the problem and no deal. (I'm pretty good at problem solving these little rigs)

Edit: I did find a way to mount them up. Had been looking at it for too long yesterday

I've been getting more change requests on the facebook page. I have added more shock mount options. I will also be making whatever mounting brackets are needed to mount the Sumo, Ambush, or RC4WD axles. This latest version is not on the shapeways store yet. I will probably do it today. Any feedback on what specifically needs changed on the upper links?

I have completed the design of the body wrap and it fits. I have changed the transmission mount to accept Trekker, Ambush, and Sumo. I moved the upper link mounting points inward about .06".

The good (and bad) thing about 3d printing these is changes can be implemented very quickly...

MG I have had a few people mount Sumo axles on the 1/25th scale Specter. Not sure why they can't be made to work on a larger version of the chassis. Hmmm...

Looks good Jim, I was actually going to edit my post about not being able to do it. A new day with fresh ideas. The new design on the shock mounts should work better. The OG mounts or a bit inward to much with the 4ws. The shocks hit the servo trying to line up. I'll try some of the pics you posted and see how it goes with their upper link setup. Mine were super short and messed with the geometry. I'll let you know how it goes tonight

Sounds great Adam, I am ordering one as it is now, probably hold on this design if there are no serious issues with the shock mounts I added. After I document the assembly using Losi gear I will repeat using the Sumo and then the Ambush, I have a lot of work ahead of me. Good luck with it!

Adam, I will send you a body wrap and some 1/8" #0-80 screws for it. Here is the outline if anyone needs it. I am going to try to make a mold for the hood and roof.
