Default Mad-Mini Crawler

First off, love this little truck!!!

Pulled it out of the box just a couple hours ago.

Nicely designed rig that has the feel and look if its bigger competitors. I drove it out of the box for 5 min and it tended to roll over backwards but hooks up everywhere! While waiting for the battery to charge I removed the servo saver and added about 3/8 of an ounce of lead to the front wheels. Feels more balanced now and will work killer.

Also happened to have a LiPo that is the perfect fit:

Cant wait to start driving and modding this sweet little rig, Thanks Losi!!!

Ya I was thinking of a stand alone LiPo cutoff unit or a Mamba 25 but want to keep it stock for now as there is talk in our area of having a stock class comp.

Hey Rich I though I saw some literature in the Mini Crawler box that says Losi has a LiPo for this rig (even saw a p/n)?

This pack is listed as an optional accessory for the MRC on Horizon's website...but notice below the specs it says "not reccomended for the Mini Crawler due to it's size"

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSB9863

But here's the Losi Lipo that should fit:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSB9830

Or for a bit higher mAh:

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSB9830

Better yet, for mounting on the front Tri Link, grab a couple of these sweet little packs from Max Amps:

The LOSB9833 is reqomended in the "Optional Parts" in the back of the owners manual

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSB9833

The LOS9830 like you mentioned is referenced on the "Warning" sheet included with the owners manual.

Eitherway a LiPo may be in the future for this rig.

Also a note on the steering servo, after some backyard crawling the servo w/o saver is starting to scream at me a bit. Not sure what to do I'm thinking of putting the saver back on.

Oh and I actually ended up with 3/4oz per front wheel (not 3/8 like I stated above)

Default Mad Mod Mini

I've throughly beat this rig the last couple weeks and have only had one casuality, the dreaded servo. And since a stock class hasn't materilized in my area and I also couldn't hold out any longer, I had to start turning screws. My stage one mods include:

-Removing the electronics tray and replaced with 60mm axial links.
-Relocated upper shock mounts to the electronics tray holes using axial 3mm spacers.
-Sidewinder micro ESC
-3s 430mAh Li-Po from Max Amps (was a 860mAh AX10 split pack that I disassembled into two packs)
-I mounted the Rx on the trans and the batt and ESC on TLT servo plates zip-tied to the upper three link.

Little Li-Po fits perfect inbetween the shocks:

Sits lower for better CofG but hurts break-over angle abit:

I also added more weight to the wheels so now I have 1oz in ech front and 3/4oz in each rear. I also got a new body coming in the mail that I'll mount that up in a couple days.

Suspension felt a bit soft in this configuration so a few tweeks were in order:

-TCS soft internal springs with 34wt up front, 45wt in the rear
-Mini Grappler body
-TCS upper link and rear plates
-TCS button head hardware
-11t pinion

Click the image to open in full size.

The internal springs helped lower the stance a bit more

torque twist is gone and suspension seems to works well, I will give it a run tomarrow

Looks awesome! Hope my TLT 1.9 doesnt hurt its feelings too bad.

FYI: the 11.1V isn't allowed per the rules :-( Wish it was because I have the same exact split pack I wanted to turn into two packs for this class.

I hope one of your narrowed axles break

Thx man!

Those 3s 430Mah packs only lasted 10-15min anyway.

I'm in the middle of making a axle mount servo/batt plate for the the 2s 1200Mah pack shown earlier in the thread.

Probably will with the 3lbs of weight in the front tires

I need to find a pack around that size, I have a 2100mah but its too big for these builds.

Just saw this one the other day:

https://rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?...&cat=40&page=1

seems around the same size as the 1250 venom and thunder power

Dean has that one on his MRC. Stand up servo (fat rock style) and it fits great.

Been doing a ton of work on this little rig, funny casue I thought a smaller rig would mean less work...

Anyway, got a HH Mini-TorqueMaster, nice little motor, I like the integrated PCB with caps, smooth startup and has plenty of torque and wheelspeed:

(like a pic helps...)

Did the rckjeep beadlock mod with 2"ABS. I cut the width at 3/4" but wish I would have used SCH 80 instead of the thick ass SCH 40

Click the image to open in full size.
(1/8" air-hole not pictured also added some lead rope under the ring)

Look good with the new Blue compound Bashers, not sure how they will perform...

Click the image to open in full size.

rear 4-linked with custom Al. plate, also added some new shocks

Click the image to open in full size.

front 4-link with fatrock style battery/servo mountalso a new thunder power 1350 LiPo to just clear the tires

Click the image to open in full size.

I tried to get the new metal gear Hi-tec servo mounted as low as possible so I used a piece of 1/4" Acetal and counter sunk some screws to attach it to the plate

What's the reason for mounting the servo that way? Just to get the battery on the axle? And why is it called fatrock mounting?

That's the reason, and there is a servo mount like that, designed for TLT axles, that's been around for a couple of years.
