Default rebinding stock Rx to DX3.0 - issues

I was sucessful in getting the Tx and Rx to bind together. The problem that I am having is that I have full throttle but only maybe 40% reverse. Also, when I try to recalibrate the ESC, I am not getting any of the light combinations that the instructions are talking about. It seems that even though I pull the throttle to go forward, the red light turns on. When I go to reverse, I get no lights. Turning on reversing in the Tx, I get the same results on the ESC, red for forward, nothing for reverse.

Stock Tx was fine...

Don't know what I did or in what order I did things, but I was really irritated and I think I went through the binding process maybe 10 times and finally got it to work. Wish I knew what step made it work, but its working... Maybe someone has the correct steps and will document it in this thread. I have 2 more receivers to bind with the same ESC and I have this issue with the other two as well.

The first thing that I did after opening the MRC box, was to bind up my first gen DX3. I did it the same way that I would bind any other SR3000 Rx (which is basicaly what the Losi Rx is).

The manual indicates an Amber light, however, it is green, just like the SR3000's...so don't go crazy trying to figure out why it's not showing up.

I bumped up all my settings in the Tx to 125%, and trimmed the steering throw accordingly.

You may need to adjust your DX3's D/R on thumb switch B. It defaults to around 78% so just kick that up to 100% also.

Having all the trims and adjustments of a high end radio makes this little critter all the better

Yep i bound mine to a dx3 tx. I got a green light too. I had same prob of 40% in rev. You have to adjust your epa's (end point adjustments) inside radio menu. Also, put about 30% expo on throttle. Helps on slooooooow crawl.

One thing I found is that the dual rate switch on the handle was set to 70% or so. once I put this to 125, I was able to bind without any problems (full throttle control). Once I did that, I was able to adjust the rates down to where I wanted it. For the crawler, I have about half throttle on full reverse, but I can adjust it on the fly now. before, I was stuck with whatever the binding wanted to give me.

Your XS3 (great Tx) is Synthesized, not the same as 2.4 gig. If you can fit the Rx on the MRC somewhere, then yes, you're all set, but you cannot bind your JR to the Losi Rx.

I am having the same issue. I was able to bind the RX and TX (no problems at all) but I can't set the ESC either...

UPDATE: Maybe I just should have read the instructions a little more thoroughly.

I also had an issue with the thumb button for EPA I believe being at 70%. Once I maxed it out to 125, I was good to go.

The reason that JR/Spektrum defaults the d/r on the thumb switch to 70% is to avoid anyone smoking out a servo by having it jacked up all the way as soon as the Tx is fired up.

Makes sense, would be nice if they indicated that somewhere in the book. Never having a radio like this I futzed with it for 2 hours until I stumbled onto it.

I'm not sure about the newer DX manuals, but in my first gen DX3 manual, it's all covered:

http://www.spektrumrc.com/ProdInfo/F..._Manua_REV.pdf

Perhaps Horizon did some editing to the newer manuals, and inadvertantly left out a few key bits of information?!
