I love the arc'd up fenders. "thumbsup" Looking good so far.

JOOTZ 11-21-2008 02:02 PM

are you gonna use the MRC parts ? this build will be interesting.

RoCk SkuLLz 11-21-2008 07:50 PM

The reason behind the arc'd fenders is more purpose than looks but there growing on me. We'll see as is starts getting more together. And yes it will be all MRC parts from my crawler. I measured and built the chassis for the MRC. Should all bolt up, start assembly next before taking it apart to paint the chassis.

More pictures to show the chassis size better. Mock up only, nothing is bolted on in these pictures. Not ride height either but close i think.

I am really into the 1:1 jeep thing as well. Those front fenders look like the REV111 fenders. Like in this pic. (not my jeep).

That's a nice Jeep. I really like the wheels and tire combo.

Nice build on this tuber Jeep. Are those the 3Racing Mini LST shocks?

RoCk SkuLLz 11-22-2008 04:27 PM

Started putting the axles in today along with the tranny and links. Not going to botther installing electronics for this mock up. I'm just checking to see what needs adjustments or changes (welding wise) before I tear it apart for paint. Then I can go back to working on the details.

This is what it looks like now. Not sure if the spacers are going to make it too wide. I'll have to see once the Mayhem Beadlocks arrive.

Amazing build "thumbsup"

I was just looking at that Bruder Jeep the other day thinking that it would make a cool build.

Well done!

do you just have the mig turned down all the way to get it to not burn through?

Yea thats a nicely built TJ. Funny, i've got those same Allied (Monster Beadlock) wheels on mine :ror: Unfortunately this build isnt after my 1:1. I wasnt able to find a red YJ body more less one that fit the MRC size...

Its turned down a lot yea. Like power level 2 w/35 or so on the wire speed i think. This welder is built for thick material so i've pretty much spot welded the chassis together.

Yes the shocks are 3Racing Mini LST's. They seem like there going to work out but they do limit travel. We'll see, springs are a little firm too but that might work out with the extra weight of the tube chassis.

yeah thats kinda what i thought....i did my chassis with a tig which was really nice but some of the parts just didnt want to weld right

RoCk SkuLLz 11-25-2008 09:15 AM

When I was welding mine I had wished I had a tig... Seems much cleaner and easier. I could have used my brothers I guess. Not sure why you had problems on certain parts, might have been poor quality rod... possibly oily or dirty too.

The only downside I found when building my chassis was holding the small parts in place for welding. Otherwise the Miller 210 wasnt that bad to use. Probably would be easier with a magnet ground or small aligator clip ground. (next time)

TREE68 11-25-2008 09:28 AM

let me know when you make more of those, so i can buy one"thumbsup"

nice build man. now i want to buy back both my losi mrc(traded them for a hpi 5b) and now you got me wanting to buy tube fenders for my 03 tj.;-)
