Yeah, which motor is it?

Badass rig btw! Those rims are hands down the best looking for the mini. Too bad they are so $. :-(

I put one of these motors in last night with the stock esc and a 10 tooth pinion. Did have have to mod the motor plate and space to motor back a little. Also had to grind the splines off of the motor to make the 10tooth pinion fit. Has plenty of power but IMO you dont have the precision crawling that the stock motor gave. Another friend is running the motor w/ the Tekin B1R ESC and his feels the same way (we ran them side by side last night)

With the stock battery and 2 ounces in the front wheels it will still pull wheelies.

Gatekeeper. in your more experienced opinion, how did you feel about the low speed power and precision of the stock esc/ rx280 vs. how your setup now?

I just feel I dont have as much control at the lower speeds. Can't go slow enough and the power comes on too fast. I'm going to try to re-set the esc tonight and see if that helps. With an aftermarket esc i could set a custom throttle curve or maybe with a better transmitter it would help control it? Or maybe its just the motor can't turn as slow as I'd like it. When you do try to go as slow as possible you can hear and see it surge ever so slightly as well.

I know what your saying about watching when you uses the throttle. If my 1:1 rig had that much go id need some more health insurance.

That may be it I set my throtle curve and I have my dx3r set to my satisfaction.Me to on the 1.1 there have been times I am glad I did not have any more power, the parts get to expensive

GateKeeper, do you know if these RX 280 motors are zero timing? Cause after flipping my trans I noticed that it didn't pull as hard in forward. I fliped it for battery placement but after running it flipped, the motor felt warmer than usuall. I installed the trans back as oe and placed the battery on the rear upper tri link. I thought it would hinder climbs being in the rear but still pulled off some awsome climbs. Even on wet rock. The truck has now very low CG and is almost perfectly balanced verse front to rear and side to side. I believe this helps.

Guys, let me tell you. I got to drive this rig for a pretty good while last week-end and it is VERY impressive. Even with me driving it it was able to pull off some wicked lines. (Austin drove it OK also) It is very capable and predictable. i cant wait for it.
