I like it alot, has drag brake, but to use all the settings you do need the castle link/programmer, but I have alot of castle products so I kinda had to have one anyway.
Holmes was running a sale so I got it landed for less then the cheapest price I could find online not including shipping

I am using one of the original Mamba25's and it is awsome. you can download the new software from castlelink to make it work with brushed motors, get drag-brake, etc.... It works very well, and I have found no drawbacks what-so-ever. plus it is super lite.

I just ordered the Novak Mongoose with the 13.5 motor. I did some reading and it can be custom set for drag brake all that other good stuff. I'll find out how it does this weekend.

I'm running the regular Sidewinder. It's very smooth and I really like it except for one thing - the drag brake is very weak. I have it adjusted to 100% and it's still weak. I really liked the full drag brake that the stock esc had, so I miss that.

Have you checked the motor brushes?

No. It's the stock motor, only a couple of weeks old (although I do have a Holmes Torquemaster Mini on the way) and I didn't think it would be the motor because the stock ESC had full drag brake.

The Sidewinder drag brake performed exactly the same (weak) on my other 1/18th crawler as well (which now gets a full drag brake via the stock Losi ESC from my MRC).

It's tiny, and very easy to adjust settings without linking to a computer. I would definately recommend it over the rooster crawler.
