Default My mini gc2

This is a prototype version of the mini gc2. Production types will be aluminum

Specs:

Stainless steel lowers (stock length)
uppers are threaded rod with traxxas rod ends (stock length)
losi late model shocks (modified)
losi cvd's
Hot racing axle diff lockers
Losi trans locker
losi slider motor
stock losi esc
Mini-t bug body
narrowed/reduced panthers
DNA 1.9 snipers (waiting on them, thanks Don)
hitec 5955
stock tx/rx

A nice clean cut skid with everything drilled and tapped perfectly to triangulate the lower to eliminate axle swing

Look at how narrow it is (I still need to get some countersunk or button head screws to replace these for the lower links)

Before the cvd's became available, I looked and realized there was room to shave the cups on the axle stubs and still be strong. So after a little bit of surgery .......

MUCH BETTER!!! but the cvd's will allow for more than that Hurry up mailman

Note, the front servo/upper link mounts will be similar to what you see but a lot nicer and more precise cut (these were cut by hand)

With the way that Gatekeeper designed to mount the upper links, he used 2mm rod ends ............... So my fix since I didnt have anymore was to make my upper links from 6/32 all thread and sleeved with carbon fiber rod (still need to do the fronts).

I cut them to the same length as the lower links and redrilled all mounting holes to 3mm. You will have to shave the side of the rod end so that it will fit in the correct mounting position and not rub against the upper link mounts on the axle

So I picked up some Losi late model shocks at the LHS and realized they were way too short.

Here is my fix to make them work

First take your stock shocks and take them apart. You will need the stock shock shaft.

Second take apart the losi shocks and take the shaft out.

Then remove the e-clip from the stock shock shaft and replace the stock shock piston with the Losi piston. Place the e-clip back on and put the Losi shock back together.

Losi piston on the right and the stock mrc on the left

Next screw the adjustable nut on the shock body all the way down to the lowest position possible. Then take the largest stock mrc shock adjuster spacer (??) and place it below the nut

Here is what it should look like

Put your shocks back together and bleed them. End product compared to stock Losi late model shocks.

The late models are originally around 55-56mm from eye to eye. After modifying these, they end up being around 66-67mm from eye to eye. This will give you around 2" of belly clearance depending on how you mount them

For some reason I can't find my other two stock shocks so, I cant put the other two together until I find them So I Had to leave those other shocks on there for now. So if you have two stock shafts you dont need, hit me up

I've been wanting to ask this. I noticed that on other venders chassis they offer more shock locations for tunning. I know Gatekeeper wouldn't put this chassis in production w/o all the R&D. Do you think this is the best shock location for the MRC since its doing the most damping. I know alot of guys are practically laying there shocks down. How does that let the shock do it's work

I like the mounting positions that are available. Maybe another row of holes either below or above these would be nice to help accomadate for various aftermarket shocks. I may lay the fronts down one more hole to soften it up.

I have seen a lot of people lay the shocks down. The more you lay them down, the softer the suspension is and from what I have seen the suspension doesn't act right to me (at least that is what I saw when playing around with one of my old supers)

Hope that helps some, maybe Austin will chime in on this subject

Yes I put the holes where they need to be this way you cannot really set it up wrong ,When you lay the shocks back to far they are not really doing a lot unless you run alot stiffer spring which is defeting the perpose of laying the shock down .There will be alot of people trying alot of setups and I have done the same and I think this is where it needs to be for this chassis and 4 link set up

Yeah. I had no doubt that it is the best shock location for this chassis. It still puzzles me how well these chassis perform. After seeing these things rock at stone mountain I've been messing with my stock chassis. And I see the stock chassis is not going to cut it anymore now that your taking pre orders.

2.1.2.2 – 1.9 Class body must be 2.75” minimum height on sides. No less than 9” total
length and full original width, and no less than 3” in the center. All bodies should resemble its
original form (Jeep bodies look like a Jeep)

well crap, I just looked at the rules and this body is 2" too short in length Oh well I have a grappler on the way and this just make my decision of which body to run easier

here is what the body measures 7.0" x 3 3/8" x 2 3/4"
