The Traxxas VXL BL system works extremely well for the price. Hard to beat it for $149.99 in a Slash. But, for most BL systems to work really well, they need to be sensored. (Just my opinion!)

Interesting update and cool photos. I didn't realize the systems were already being installed by racers!

So what is the finding...worth the money for less maitenance or stick with the brushed motors with effective Drag brake?? Very interested in more concise testing results before I take the plunge.

Thanks:-P

Sorry, been too busy to drive it. I did have Charlie bump up the drag/hold brake and now it stands straight up with no rollback. Depending on the weather, I hope to get it on the rocks this weekend.

Cool...looking forward to your input. The drag brake improvement helps put my mind more at ease about giving BL a try.

Nice! Just don't forget it's illegal to comp with. 8.4v max is the rule.

if you get a chance i would like to see a video of this setup. put a pice of wood up against the wall at about a 50 degree angle and try and drive down slowly and then try and stop before the bottom.

Can I film it in slow motion? I'm not sure how it will work ... I'm doing a demo crawler booth tomorrow and will be bringing some of my cralwer course. I'll bring a carpet ramp, and do some climbing and descending to see how it reacts. I doubt I'll be able to film it, but I'll honestly tell ya what I think!

Yes slow motion and in HD please. My main concern with this setup is the drag brake coming on to hard on a steep down hill and making the crawler flip over. Looking forward to what ya think.

Jake

I'd like to see a time lapse presntation of you setting up all the way though taking down the demo course with a nice mix of Quiet Riot and Yani playing in the background. Thanks!

You guys are killing me! Dave and Peter into Yani, who'd have imagined it!

Ok, no video (sorry) but I can tell you it's like all brushless systems up and down hill. The hold/drag brake is more effective on this system than the 1/10, but that actually makes it harder to descend. The roll is slower and controllable than a 1/10 scale rig, most likely because of the weight ... BUt, if you get going and snap to neutral, over she goes. So, it will take some practice.

But, other than that, I'm stoked with the system! I might try tighter gear mesh and lightening up on the drag brake to see how that feels. More testing soon!
