Ok here is my prob maybe Rich T. on one of you more experienced lipo users has already run into and solved this problem can give me a little help here. I have a Hyperion EOS 0610i DUO2 battery charger, this charger requires you to use (at least as far as I can figure out) you to connect the balance and charge leads to charge the the pack. I just got a LOSB9831 Lipo battery for the MRC for my new GC2 chassis. I didn't buy the charger for this pack as I already have one and I figured that if I didn't have a balance block to fit it I could pick one up my LHS has all of the available blocks from hyperion. Well this pack has a really strange balance connector that Hyperion says they don't have a balance block to fit. They make one for a three wire losi connector but this particular connector doesn't line up with the pins in the block the third is about 1mm or less off. Hyperion is afraid to say to just squeeze it in there they aren't sure that the block has the proper voltage ??? to correctly balance the battery. Now I'm not great at all things electrical (Strangely I can and do build computers) and I'm not clear as to why this block couldn't work for the battery. Is there a reason I couldn't change the plug to say match something from thunder power which I already have a block that will fit and also uses a three wire plug, or another manuf that Hyperion makes a block that will fit. If I can where can I get said plug maybe a part number and what wires should I put where. I don't want to buy the stock wall charger I know for a lipo to work up to it's potential it should be balanced, and the stock charger for this battery doesn't appear to do this. Not to mention I have a really great charger already and cannot really say I want to blow $20.00 for a wall charger. Now I'm starting to remember why I swtched to and raced nitro back in the day LOL.

I would like to know what plug conversion that will work as well. I have the hyperion also and when I I used a 3 cell made by Horizon I pulled the little plugs out of the stock Balance tab (like reomving the tab off your servo and plugging the raw pronngs without the tab)and placed them on the corresponding connectors on the balance tabs prongs on my hyperion. I will let you know I have not done this for a while because I eneded up selling that lipo due since and when I did it I had done some pretty intensive searching to make sure that the wires were matched up correctly. If I remember that plug wires are not "the same old color labeling" but from trouble shouting I figured it out. The good news is you very good charger by hyperion will not allow you to start charging till everything is connected correctly. I felt better about trouble shooting till I got the right conf. and then wrote down my results. I balanced that lipo many times this way but I am sure many will say that this is not the safest practice...as Im sure its not. But it better then running a unbalanced lipo and either ruining it or having it melt down your rig. Last edited by Desert Rc; 02-20-2009 at 01:27 PM.

If its a 2 cell then I hear from experienced Lipo guys that it is not necessary to balance on every charge and would be okay to charge without balancing till you get the applicable balance tab especially being such a small Lipo. Just what Ive heard but I bet horizon would suggest otherwise.

Thanks for the info but my current problem is my charger appears to like to use the balance lead to sense the pack before it will charge it soo at this point I'm not even able to charge the pack. I really don't want to waste the $20.00 dollars for the wall charger for the pack. This pack appears to have a really uncommon connector for the balance lead.

I have purchased several Li-PO packs and only have one ballancer, not any of the batteries have the same plug! I went to my LHS with my charger and a couple batteries, and was able to locate a set of adapters that works with all my packs. Ya-hooo did not have to purchase another ballancer. Bottom line, take your goods to your LHS and see if they can hook you up with adapters..

I've already done that Hyperion doesn't make a balancing block that is a direct fit for the oddball plug on this lipo pack

I too have a hyperion charger, luckily my ballance is seperate but it too is from hyperion.. I've been charging my pack without balancing but would really like to balance the pack.. I did the same as you tried everything in the book to figure something out, but nothing is available. Why do companies have to change something that is so easy sometimes? lol. Please Rich let us know what we can do

Hey guys I tell you Mike shot me an email back on this in about an hour and helped me with a pack I didn't even buy from his site. Just another example of another great vendor in our hobby giving great service!. If you need a pack might wanna shoot your money his way I know my next pack is comming from there. |

I have seen a few people use this balancer and they like it. I thought that the Align and the Thunder power taps were the same. MAybe I am mistaken. I know they are the same on my Commonsense RC packs. | |

You can use the hyperion without balance taps. Just hit enter when it says no balance tap connected.

You need two Adapters to connect the LOSB9831 Lipo battery to the Hyperion. One from Losi and one from Maxamps. I use this set up on my Hyperion EOS0606i. LiPo Balance Connector Set, 2-5 Cell: Losi Conn http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodId=LOSB9651 Hyperion 2S-6S Kokam Adapter http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.ph...-KOKAM&cat=212 ![]() ![]()
