Default 645MG on Losi Front Axle Battery Plate

When I bought the front axle battery mount a few months back I noticed a couple odd holes that weren't shown on the Horizon sales page. As I looked at the holes it seemed like an oddly familiar spacing and diameter on them but just never thought much more about it untill the stock servo started acting up. The more I thought about it the more it seemed like it was awfully close in spacing to fit a normal sized servo. Well last night I finally got fed up with the stock servo while doing a RS-280 motor swap and decided to pull things apart and line things up to see if I was right....and well.....I was The servo was still acting up this morning so I decided to swap it out while it was slow at work today. Picked up a 645MG servo, Traxxas Nitro 4-Tec servo mount, and Patriot RC 3x8 caphead screws to do the conversion.

Here's where I started, the servo and ESC had been stripped off at this point.

This'll be a better shot of the holes after I pulled the plate off the front axle.

Here's the 645MG lined up with the mystery holes.

Just for the hell of it I mounted the stock servo on the to of the plate and put the 645 on with one mount to the bottom just to see how close they are to each other. As you can see, it's pretty damn close!

I finally got the mounts on the plate and re-installed it on the axle, then mounted up the servo with the factory mounted round servo arm.

I didn't get a chance to take the next photos until after getting home from work, I used the single servo arm, opened up with a post hole reamer, then reused the stock ball on the new arm. It has way more than enough power to turn the truck!

So long as the weather holds out tomorrow (the weather people are claiming a good bit of snow tomorrow), I'll be able to test it out after the SCRC comp tomorrow!

BTW, for those of you wondering what's hanging off the side, it's an E-Flite 2-3 cell Li-Po charger for the Blade CX and CP that I was using to charge the Parkzone 1032 800mAh 7.4v BL J3 Cub battery that powers it..

I'd originally had the ESC mounted up their, but it's back in the stock location for the time being.
