Default Flat iron rock test

Well I got some new bling and had to test it out! I cant believe how much difference there is between stock tires and the g8 flat irons! My truck was going places that I would have never givin my stock set up a second look! I love the delron bent links also a great upgrade my truck took a couple of hard falls today and no problems!

Thanks to RPP Hobby for the rims!
Thanks to TCS for the flat iron's!
Thanks to SAC Racing for the bent links!
Got the hitech 645 from the LHS!

These are great vendors to work with and I found em here!!!

Can you tell me how the Axial wheels compare to the Losi wheels in terms of width and backspacing?

Do the Losi rings fit on the axial wheels? I have a custom set of lock rings for my losi wheels and I'm wondering if they would fit on the axial wheels...

The axial wheels have 1.5mm screws so no they wont fit the stock rings but you can buy aftermarket rings. I know what my new wheels are going to be.

Are these tires any improvement over the bashers?

After haveing the axial wheels I will not go back to the stock losi rims. They look great and are just plain better. And the tires went on flawlessly. Much easier to add weight to also.

Should I upgrade my stock motor without metal lockers or am I askin for carnage?

I was wondering if you left the stock foams alone are if you cut them a little. Based on your test, what do you suggest?

The flat irons come with soft memory foam and I left it alone. I'm running 4oz per front tire and 1/2 oz under the servo plate. I have 2oz per back tire and run the battery on the back axel.

I may remove some of the memory foam in the future but I want to run it for awhile first plus get some tips from other guys with simmilar set ups.

I really want these tires! But Losi blue Claws/Bashers keep me from pulling the trigger and buying them!

I don't care about the hardware size difference if the center holes of the rings and wheels line up. It's 1/2 a MM. I'm pretty sure I can get a 2mm screw in there if the holes center on each other, so please let me know.

Also, is the width and backspacing the same as the Losi wheel?

thanks

Ok from the bottom of the hex shaft to edge of the rim on the stock losi wheel is 11mm without the beadlock ring.

On the axial wheel the same measurement is 12mm.

As far as the losi beadlock fitting on to the axail rim I would say nope here's some pictures.

Note the thickness of the beadlock surface of the losi vs axial

I put a screw though each beadlock the holes do not line up.

Hope this helps.

Exactly what I was wanting to know for the rings.

Thanks.

So the backspacing is 1mm different. What about the width of the wheel itself?

I wanted to say they are the same but I was too lazy to tear down 2 beadlock wheels to check just by spot checkin the axial may be a mm wider but not much they are pretty close!

Well last night I bit the bullet and ordered 4 Flat Irons and 4 Axial beadlocks like you have. I wasn't sure if I wanted to get Rock Claws or Bashers instead, but I found a great deal on Flat Irons and they were even cheaper than the Losi tires. I also wanted to get aluminum beadlocks, but just couldn't justify it yet.

Do you have any weights on your Axial beadlocks? I'm trying to locate stick on weights locally, but I can't find them!
