Yes all you have to do is put it in. It even has the stock wire ends to fit in the stock esc.

Some of the Stock ESC's are failing with any other motor. Some aren't its an odd crap shoot. Though the BEC on the stock ESC is weak...so that might be crapping out and taking the ESC not really the motor.

hes not being a dick dude, there are just a ton of questions that get posted over and over and over. its annoying and is easily solved by using the search button or visiting vendors sites and their question and answer threads in the vendor section on here. again not being rude just trying to keep the subjects new round here and not so repetitive.
ps. the tmm is a kick ass motor and i run mine on stock esc w/645 servo and its fine. i would a bec if you go with large servo also, it makes a big difference. my truck weighs over 4 pounds and now it will literally launch itself if i roll into an obstacle with a little throttle. made me giddy like a school girl

Dropped in my TMM along with a 2 cell lipo and fried the stock esc in a matter of hours. Got the Tekin fx-r and the problem was solved it is also much quieter than any esc I have heard and has a lipo cut-off.

Did you change timing at all? Retarding it will draw more current I believe.

My esc is doing fine and I have had one hhtmm long enough the brushes are all wore out. I have a 2s lipo with no issues. My 2'nd hhtmm is in the mail maybe my esc is doing ok because i'm not trying to race with it J/K guys it seems esc failure is hit and miss

The brushes are replaceable in the tmm from Holmes. He sent me a better pair the second time around and the low throttle speed is smoother with the new ones.

I don't know if retarding/advancing will affect the amp draw, but i did adjust the timing on mine. It 'sounded' as if it spun faster forward than it did reverse, so i adjusted the endbell until it 'sounded' even.
