Default MRC T1E Style

Well we have been working on this for some time, and figured I would throw out a build.

Very simple start, with the new Rockshow Mini chassis.

Parts list as follows
  • Losi MRC Axles and Tranny.
  • Rockshow Chassis Kit (Skid, Chassis Plates, Upper and Lower Links, 4 Link/Servo Plates, and Fasteners)
  • Tekin FXR
  • Losi Mini Slider Motor
  • Losi Blue Claws
  • Losi MRC Crawler Shocks
  • Custom T1E Painted Side Panels
I would like to add some VP LH Pro Comp wheels to this once I get things rolling, but will currently use the Losi Aluminum 1.9 wheels.

Rockshow had this truck at ECC, and it was doing some pretty sweet things!! Climbs are great, side hilling is awesome, and the geometry seems to be next to none!!!

To start off I broke down my MRC completely and checked the Axles and Tranny for wear. I have been running it for a few months now and took the time to do this during the build. Nothing abnormal was found.

I have already locked the axles with Losi's hardened lockers and replaced the center locker with an HR locker gear. A must unless you want to take a repair in the middle of a run.

I went with the white delrin, and dyed it Orange... pretty sexy I think

Bolted up the side plates with the lower links. I used Traxxas #1942 ball ends (the hex ones, not round smooth). Used the stock ball ends for the axle sided. I ran out of the hex ones, so in a few of these photos you will see the smooth ones, but it was just to assemble and get photos. You can try them if you like, since they will be a touch shorter, but I have gone back in and went with the hex to lengthen it all a bit.

Moved on to mounting up the tranny and motor. The skid has a notch in it for screw tab on the lower part of the tranny, so it should mount up perfectly smooth!!

Kit comes with 5 cut cross braces. 2 for the roof, 2 for the shocks, and 1 for the rear section, just to tie the back in.

I used the stock ball screws for the shocks since I will be using the Losi MRC Aluminum Crawler Shocks. I had to use 3 nylon washers to shim these out a bit for the shocks to clear the chassis.

From here I bolted in the upper links and we are ready to move onto the shocks and axles.

Looks great. Makes me want a MRC. I tihnk you need to put another cross brace at the very front to help tie it in also. Stick out a tad without one.

I may add a square piece up front for the hood panel to mount too... wont see much since it will have a panel on it, but probably will add something up there

Hey Silas, it looks great so far. I like the idea of being able to dye the chassis any color I'd like. Are the links going to be included with this chassis?

Yes!

Due to the size not being something you could use from the stock setup we will be including the lower and upper links. You will be able to use the stock ball ends on the axle side of the lowers, the rest you will need to add 3mm ball ends.

Well start back with the shocks. Going with these for now... but will be trying a few others.

These shocks are a bit long, and will be tricky getting the proper shock throw while limiting shock height.

Shorter shocks are going to work better with this chassis, but right now I have my MRC Losi Crawler Shocks limited about an 1/4 inch. Just cut a little fuel tube and good to go for now.

You can see the shock on the left is limited the one on the right is stock. Could use a bit more I think, but will test with this once its all done and see how she performs...

Next will be the 4 link and axle mount up... Then putting the shocks on.
