RIPPERFI BeatleJuice V2 Mini

Acquired a badly beaten and abused mini and at the same time the BJ V3 side plates came in for the bully. I had the V2 plates on hand and figured, why not? I saw another build on here of a V1 beatlejuice and at quick glance it seemed the V2 would be an easy conversion. Just had to fab a skid and drop the tranny in. Well, it wasn't that easy. Matter of fact it was a PITA. In the end I think it came out ok. Also made new upper and lower links out of 1/4 delrin stock and everything aside from the axles is 3mm. I wont bore you with details, heres the pics...

ESC is a mamba micro pro with CC BEC. Stock 2.4g losi radio and RX. Battery is a rhino by zippy packs 2s 1050 40C. Power should be ok. The top panels are temporary until I decide on a final design.
Motor is a frenzy out of a Mlst2. 15T pinion, I know, it will probably be way too fast but it was all I had at the moment. I have a 13T but don't feel like modding the motor plate again. Currently looking for a miniT big block motor plate. Servo is a Hitec 5990TG, torque should be adequate. HAd to cut the stock servo link in half then tap it for a revo end to attach to the servo arm. Shocks are MLST2 shocks with upgraded shafts. Problem is those damn 2mm screws at the axle mounts. Not enough material there to drill out to 3mm so I was limited on what to do. I drilled and tapped the mini rod ends I had left over to fit the shock shaft. So its kind of weird having tiny ends on the axle and full size on the chassis. Screwed for springs as well as the spring retainer is small therefore have to use mini t springs. I don't know what people do to solve this problem and use 3mm shock ends on the axle. I hate shocks, I've always had problems. Gotta get a new set but dont know which ones. Cant find any that are captured balls on both ends. Then I still have to solve the problem of the axle mounts. Ahhh it never ends!

chassis looks huge on there

Mutant_Xj 01-01-2010 08:07 PM

I really like that. It gives it a scale look.

SpeedFreak675 01-04-2010 01:25 AM

it really does look awsome. let us know how it performs.

JeepinOR 01-04-2010 08:27 AM

I really like the way that looks...and there's plenty of room for the electronics! With that, can you get a dig in there?

I'm rather curious how she'll perform. "thumbsup"
