Looking good man! How did you cut those 1.9 foams??

4xFord 01-11-2010 10:35 AM

I cut about 1/3 off of each front and rear. They are super soft but I they are gonna hook!

JeremyH 01-11-2010 10:41 AM

Hell yes they will! I cut mine in half on the fronts and left them full width in the rear....but I think I am going to need to shave a bit off of the rears....

Let's see some action pics!

4xFord 01-11-2010 10:57 AM

Gotta go get some wheel time on the new tires! This should be a good comp coming up. "thumbsup"

JeremyH 01-11-2010 11:40 AM

Yep, agreed! I am currently waiting on parts to get mine up and running again, but I should have it ready in time.

4xFord 01-12-2010 01:10 AM

Oooooh ya, BTA DONE!

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...miniGC2BTA.jpg

With the felsenfest knuckles it really opens up your options. I also switched to a 5955TG. Should steer nicely with lots of clearance. "thumbsup"

EGRESSor 01-12-2010 01:51 AM

the bta looks real good
any detail pics ?

Thanks! This red compound sure seems better than the G8 to me. 8)

I think it is an awesome chassis. Only other chassis I would rather drive on this rig would be a GC3. "thumbsup"

Welcome to the mini GC2 club! When you get one of these setup properly nothing out climbs it.
Do the Rovers hit your front shocks at full turn, and what is the height now that they are mounted on the rims?

Well, I guess you could say I was a club founder because I was like 5th to pre-order from Austin...lol. I love this chassis, wouldn't mind trying one of those GC3 skids if it fit.

The rovers with the trimmed Crawler Innovations foams are 3.5" tall. If I needed more height I could put a full width CI foam in it, but I think I'm going to like this setup. "thumbsup"

Also they do not touch the links or shocks. I have dog bones with Felsenfest knuckles, the knuckles can be offset for more steering. I have replacement CVD's coming, but with the new 3s rule, and the sick packs from Krawler Hobbies on their way, I have little faith in them. :|

Nice truck. The BTA looks good also. I'm thinking about getting into the 1.9 class this year. It will make my long drives to comps more worth it driving in two classes! I like how that GC3 looks and I have alwasy been a fan of the GC2.

Thanks Ashton, you definately can't go wrong with a Gatekeeper chassis. These little guys take a ton of mods to get up to snuff, but they are a lot of fun. 8)

Well, I have some sweet little 20c 350 mah 3 cell Thunder Power packs coming from Krawler Hobbies. They have a great selection of smaller packs, which is nice because I try to get away with the smallest packs possible on my rigs. But even though it is small, it is 3s and Thunder Power cells are very high quality, so I am expecting some punch!

So, to avoid driveshaft failure, I installed some of these sweet MIP units.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...2underside.jpg

They are super smooth and actually are a smaller diameter than the stock shafts, which will be nice if I need to mount the lipos on top of the links."thumbsup"

JeremyH 01-14-2010 07:30 AM

Nice! You wont have any issues with those driveshafts!

helhedded 01-14-2010 07:31 AM

Do you have to run your drag link high off of your knuckles to get the bta to clear?
