Would you be willing to sell the leftover parts? and if so, how much? You can PM me if you'd like.

I am considering putting together a second one using mostly if not all stock parts. And if all I gotta get are links, axle & tranny housings then it could be pretty easily done.

Thanks.

I got a call from Jim with VP today. The new wheels for the mini will be here very shortly. However looks like I have to wait almost 2 weeks before I can show them to you guys!

These are the sickest wheels that have ever been produced for a crawler, not even kidding!

Still have a few things to order for this build, but it will be coming along nicely in the next week.

Anyone found a decent set of gears for the trans yet? Haven't done much research but I have seen one too many of these trans blow up lately :?

Josh, I've been running the HR alum. gears since before last season, packed the case w/white lithium grease & their showing no signs of wear

not sure if there are any other options out there but i know the stock gears wont last long w/the mongoose

Good deal, and I am assuming that there is no need for an additional locker than either. I'll go hunt them down.

Hey Josh, are you only going to use the LCC cvd stub? I have the same knukles and will be modifying the whole cvd to fit. Through my experience with the mini cvd's, usually the ball snaps off the shaft. I will be modding them this weekend and will report back if you are interested on how I did them. Can't wait to see the new vp's!

Interesting, I will have to look at the shaft size and see how it all compares.

Well since you mentioned using the LCC inner shaft it got me thinking so I decided to do some engineering.

I checked my models on both shafts, as well as the stub shafts. I found a couple things. The LCC stub axle doesn't fit perfectly on the MRC inner axle but it isn't bad. The LCC has a larger ball on the inner axle which conversely creates a larger pocket on the stub. This will put a little extra stress on that CVD pin since there will be a slight gap now.

This does make me want to pursue the LCC inner shaft further. The LCC is MUCH beefier, as one would expect. Laying the models on top of each other confirms that it will be possible to use this setup.

You can see that the outer bearing will not have that retaining ring but there are a couple options there. I can either NOT run an outer bearing (just like the LCC) or I can use a small dab of red loctite (like the Super 300's on a Berg).

Looks like I need to find someone with a lathe now

Hmmm...thanks for posting that overlay, I might end up keeping my mini after all. I break cvds more often than berg inners.

Also, for the new VP wheels, can't wait to see what they've come up with now.
