Default CC BEC Voltage

Just got my CC BEC. What are you guys running for an output voltage. I'm running a HS-645MG servo on 2s lipo.

Hs-645mg doesn't really need a bec. I just got a 2nd bec I'm going to put it in my scaler using that same servo. I will likely set it at about 6.2 and just take advantage of the 10a output.
But even without a bec my HS-645MG steers my 1.9's with 1/4 pound of lead in each very easily. Ithink you should be good. I hadn't realized I was in the MRC forums.

You need to look at what your servo is capable of receiving before playing with the voltage. You may be able to supply 10V but most servos stop at 6V.

just looked, the box specs 4.8v only, the website shows torque specs for 4.8 aswell as 6v, I would probably stay right on 6v using a BEC with this servo. just to play it safe.

The ESC output varies from unit to unit..

My LHS told me I would not need a BEC when I weighted & upgraded the tires & wheels.. But damn, it sure decided to thermal every 3 minutes afterwards..

I installed a CC BEC @ 6v and instantly solved the problem..

So for those who state that a BEC is not needed on an MRC.. They are in the lucky bunch.. The rest of us get to spend an extra 25 bucks to make crap right..

Been running my stock servo for 3-4 months @ 6v.. no issues, and damn it sure responds faster with more torque.. no servo-saver on mine either..

same here...I've needed a bec on just about every mini i've ever built. I did have really good luck with a Futaba servo that didnt seem to draw too much from the esc.......no such luck for me and the hitec servos

Prevention is better than cure, etc. You may be lucky but you may have my kind of luck !

Why risk it?

There was a link through to a large thread on just this subject posted recently in another thread. Very interesting reading.

Yes you need an external bec

I install an external BEC on any RC that has the potential to stall the motor. When you stall the motor, the internal BEC robs current from the servo to help out the motor.....no matter what servo you are using.

The idea that with a big enough hammer you can pound a square peg into a round hole just will not die. People just keep trying and trying to get it, and when they fail they go off into the distance and install a BEC.

On a side note I run mine (all of my RC stuff has a BEC, even my Slash and SC-10) at 7.4 volts. No issues even with the stock Traxxas servos. Maybe I am just lucky.
