Great build

Couple of quick questions though please.

1/ What does each one of those slugs weigh?
2/ Will you please sell me them wheels?

Really really reallyyyyyyyyyyy wish i'd bought those vanquish wheels instead of my Pro-Line Titus ones

To make matters worse i've just tried ordering some and Vanquish are out of stock

Cheers
Mark

It worked really well, but my driving just wasn't there in 2.2. I made some mental errors in this class. I amazed people with the climbing ability, though. There is a sidwalk paver sitting at an extremely steep angle...alot of 2.2's couldn't climb it, and the little Moon Buggy crawled right up it.

Can you tell us a little about the over drive gears in the front?

I'm posting from my phone so I don't have the part number handy...it's actually been posted up a few times on RCC, so you night be able to find it faster than I can. I can tell you that you only use the pinion from a popular Traxxas vehicle. It's not quite as smooth as the stock gears, but makes a small difference.

I missed a few updates, so here's from the last few days:

Thursday:
The Mini Moon Buggy ended up nearly completely torn apart in order to get my daughters rig together for Christmas. Today was the first chance I've had to work on it since.

I think I spent 3 hours on the front axle alone; shimming up the new RC Bros locker & the overdrive pinion gear, clocking the C's for a bit more caster and improved driveshaft angle, installing the RC Bros zero ackerman, high steer knuckles, and getting the duratrax Vendetta shocks installed.

Saturday:
It's running again.

The steering is done. It has a ridiculous amount of steering, but with about 30degrees of caster, the tires don't touch the shocks.

The front axle has the overdrive gears.

The rear axle has the underdrive.

The 18t Crawler Mafia motor is broken in and installed w/ a 12t pinion. It doesn't have any more wheelspeed than I'm used to, but it has an incredible amount of torque and drag brake.

The Tekin FXR is mounted on the front links, the TP 325mah 2s lipo is on the rear links.

It has over 2" ground clearance at the front of the skid an almost 2 1/4" at the rear.

Sunday:

1st time running the new setup...might as well be at a comp.

It took me one course to get the feel for it. It's a little different driving with all that caster, higher center of gravity, and the over/underdrive gears, but oh man, does this thing work well!

The first course I ran, I pointed out on gate 5, for a 32, but then, after getting a feel for the truck, I pulled out a 1 (and ran the course in a minute and 4 seconds) and a -4 on the next courses.

Monday:

I decided to through together some 4 inch pin tires for it, so I used Losi Claw sidewalls & ProLine Caliber treads.

Here's some pics...

I'm going to enlarge some Rovers as soon as I get some donor sidewalls. I really hadn't even thought about widening them...though I'm not sure if I have the patience for that.

BTW, the over/under gears are working out great, and that motor is one torquey little SOB! Thanks again!

did u mean duratrax vendetta shocks? I've looked all over to find the evader shocks and none of them look like that. Could I get a part number. I've got a mini moonbuggy also and I'm looking to get a longer shock. I wouldve bought the vendetta shocks already but I don't know which is the right one.

Yeah. I screwed up writing that. I had just put Evader ST shocks on a buddy's berg moon buggy.

I'll find the part number and post it.

I was able to test the tires on Sunday. I had also enlarged a set of Rovers to 4" using a set of reduced losi Comp Claw sidewalls and mounted them on Dark Soul wheels with the same weight.

Our indoor comp location is mostly sandstone (I think) and it gets really dusty.

When the day started, I honestly noticed no difference in traction between the pin tires and the 4" Rovers. Climbing, sidehilling, etc was all pretty similiar. Where I did notice a difference was when trying to drive under a low ledge on one course, the Rover pushed through a little more easily, where the pin tire got stuck a bit. I was able to power out, but I ended up in a slightly less desirable position.

I also noticed that as the day went on, and the tires got dustier, the pin tires performance diminished more rapidly than the Rovers. That's really not a huge issue, though, as it's easy enough to clean them between courses, and I could easily run 2 courses without a los in traction.

I will most likely run the Rovers at our indoor location or on any course that has undercuts that I have to drive a tire under and the pin tires on all other outdoor courses.

Small Update:

I decided to pull the JR Z9100T servo from the mini for another project, and the only other servo I had available was a JR 8711HV, so I bumped the BEC voltage to 7.4 and installed it. As if 370oz wasn't enough, now 480 oughta make it steer through anything.

I'm having a few problems with breaking/dropping CVD pins and my servo wire popped out of the receiver on one course, but even with that, I was able to win our final Winter Series Comp yesterday with a 5, 4, & 34. This also allowed me to wrap up the Winter Series Points win with a 135 (2nd place had a 197 and 3rd was a 214).

This truck performs amazingly well when I can get my head out of my ass and drive it.
