Default RcBros New Season Pro Build

Well new season, means new truck. I've missed two comps, so I needed to kick it into gear. I decided to start out with the new Losi MRC Pro and then tweak it to my standards.

The Pro version comes stock with lockers and front CVD's. But I decided to kick it up a notch by adding the front over drive mod. Losi stock pinion on left, traxxas pinion on right.

Next up I decided bent rear links were needed. So I cut, threaded and bent up some rear links.

My main goal was to come up swith a BTA steering setup. So I first added our RcBros front 4 Link mount, High Steer Knuckles and High steer link.

I then added a Futaba S9511 low profile servo, and added some new custom upper links.

Nice approach angle now.

The BTA was easier then I expected. I simply flopped carriers from one side to another, and adjust my upper links for clearance. Everything is very tight, but I feel it should work great. It may have a tad to much negative caster, but we'll see after testing.

Next I wanted to try something I've never done before. Cut n shutting tires. I swore I'd never do this, but I suckered myself into it. After seeing how well the 2.2 boss claws preform, I decided to create a knock of 1.9 set the best I could.

1.9 Flat Irons, and Short Course M4 Caliber tires.

I first started by cutting the sidewalls off a 1.9 flat irons. If you look at them closely, they have a nice mold line on the outside of them. I followed this line.

Then, cut the centers of the calibers.

And then alot alot alot alot alot and alot of patience, some good glue, with a straw tip and more patience.

Then mounted up on a new set of Vanquish wheels.

After having them mounted, with a ton more patience and everything I could mustard to still work on a tire I'm questioning, I cut away at the tires until I felt I had something that should hook up well.

we'll see how they preform...

woah, with the vanquish and the caliber, it kinda looks like a XR-10, if you just let your imagination kick in alittle!

very nice build!

BTW, do you happen to have the part number for the traxxas pinion? thanks

Very nice build. Those steering knuckles look very svelt, as do the cut and shut tyres. Just wish I had the skill and patience.

Isn't it about time one of the big manufactures picked up on the fact that the pros are making these tyres and manufacture them for the mass market? I'd be all over a set.

You just need to purchase a pinion gear from a mini slash. This gear is a direct fit for the MRC and has one more tooth than the stock pinion. The part number is pictured above.

Let's see some more pics of the BTA. I've been running mine with your servo mount for quite some time now and am pretty happy with the setup!

Nice work on the tires! How tall did they come out to??

is the traxxas pinion more durable than the stock pinion? i mean $10, for the pinion is alittle high from my perspective..

Cool build.

Nice work on the cut n shut tires as well. I don't think you are going to like the height of the tires on the 1.9 though. In my testing I have found that 4 1/4 is too tall for 1.9 competition. If the rules would allow for a longer 1.9 wheel base they would be perfect though. I have been making 4" tall 1.9 comp tires lately and that has been working out pretty good. What did you end up using for foams in these tires?

Yes, I'm not happy with the tires at all. They did not seem large until I installed them, kicking myself hard, I forsee cutting them up to reduce the size once again.

front over drive mod
What are the advantages of this? Won't your front and rear tires spin at different rates? Am I missing something here? Sorry to hijack.
