Tranny flipped?
 

Hey guys,

My current setup is a losi mrc drivetrain with a tcs l-trail chassis and a chassis mounted servo.

My problem is: I flipped the tranny around so I would have more room up front for electronics...but now it has a CRAP TON of torque twist :cry:

Also if I stear it left to right, while sitting still, it will make the whole truck move from side to side :x

Climbs like a goat now, but rolls so easy compared to before. I also have my electronics mounted low.

So did I waste my time flipping it around?

Any help would be great, as I have never encountered this bad of a problem before :)

Sounds to me its more then just flipping the trans.
Thats wouldnt cause your truck to push from side to side while steering Idont
think.

For torque twist,when climbing which front tire raises off the ground 1st?

What you describe is bump steer - is your servo frame mounted? If so you may need a panhard par to stiffen things up.

You can't get bump steer when sitting still also the servos are mounted to the axle on the mrc's which there wouldn't be any bump steer, and it would be pretty difficult to mount it on the frame as these rigs are allready cramped for space.

As for the torque twist like rockhard mentioned about which front tire raises just preload the opposite rear shock of the front tire that is lifting that should help, also rear link placement can help aswell.

OP said the servo is fram mounted,scale chassis.
I dont know if bump steer is possible setting still or not on a scaler.
I would think its more to do with caster or link geometry/placement though


That is correct,stiffen your rear shock that is cady corner,
preload,shock oil,stiffer springs ect.
Also maybe rais the rear shocks a tad more vertical if there are placement options.

It really depends on what angle/rock im driving on, but its usually the front right tire.

Adding a stiffer shock setting to the opposite side out back is what I thought about, but wasnt sure until now :)

I may just have to flip the tranny back to its original position because it was such a big performance loss compared to the original setup.


Ill keep you guys posted on what I try and do and will throw up pictures of the setup im most pleased with. Maybe this will also help other mrc owners who are using an l-trail and having the same space problems with mounting the electronics...these little buggers are tight for space.

My bad on the servo mounting I was thinking it was the tcs tuber chassis.:mrgreen:

Well I couldnt stand the way I had it set up so I tore it apart and restarted from scratch :ror:

I made a little aluminum plate for the ESC and Reciever to sit on. I will also waterproof them before I put them on.

It is held on by zip ties for now- if I dont like the way it performs.

I will mount the battery up front on the upper links and test it out!
