Default Gate Ceeper Bodiless Topper - Guage Interest

I just wanted to see if there was interest in a bodiless topper to add on the GC Chassis. I'll let you decide, I've got a prety killer Idea and shouldn't add more than 2 oz to the over all weight.

Post your thought's and vote please.

It would be best IMO to attempt making a cab that would fit multiple chassis.
Probably wouldnt take much more mounting options and then you have more
potential buyers.

I dont run a bodiless mini but adding 2oz that high on a MRC sounds like a bad idea. I might be interested if you could make it lighter.

This is my thought too....the MRC is so sensitive to any weight transfer that high. I couldn't believe the difference just lowering the stock body on my first MRC made.

Putting 2oz on top would negate all the work I've done to my Pro so far to get the weight lower.

Do me a favor if some one can, weigh your body, body clips, body posts and hardware to mount the body posts and ill make a topper that is ligher if its possable. I think youll find the body and all parts to mount it will come out to just about 2 or 3 oz.

That sounds like a plan. You are right... the difference could me minimal and the extra clearance around the body might make up for it.

A 2.2 bug body is only 2.4oz, stock body posts and clips for a 2.2 are 6g.

My barely legal grappler body weighed less than my current cab.

However the added weight, even though it was up top,is well worth the added
confidence I have on course. I can consitantly flip my rig without taking a 5 point rollover. That IMO negates the issue of being top heavy, cuz I have added weight to the wheels to compensate on the climbs. There is little I can do to increase the rollover potential for a body, unless its a bug body your probably not fliping over very easily.

Also things like alum hardware, thinner lexan, ect can all help keep that weight to a min.

2.2 body 2.4 oz so i would guess a 1.9 to be about 1.5 oz painted up so ill make my target weight 1.5 oz for the topper. I will weigh the GC chassis with the stock body trimed and posts once the body arives and then i will work on weight reduction and implimenting my design. My goal is to beat the over all weight by minimum .5 oz. And still be durable. Stay tuned as i will post pictures as i make progress. First step ill do the design and post pictures.

Till then.

I just weighed my Grappler and mounting hardware and it came out to 1.13oz.
1.5oz and being bodiless would be decent I think.

I've got some 3/32 in delrin comming to check the weight with my first design Idea. If it weighs out with the hardware, then I'll move forward this this. If not, I'll try 1/16th in and see how sturdy it is.
