The protos I picked up, were missing a few things, so I'm awaiting for those to be addressed. Its the busy season for my machinist, so I'm just crossing my fingers hoping he can get time to get everything I need made, made. The number keeps climbing.

I just ordered some crappy aftermarket aluminum bits (C-hubs & knuckles) as spares until these come out. Since we have 2 MRC's in house that comp, something will break at some point. Spares are good. Correct parts are even better......... |

I'm pretty sure with the new C's and high steer knuckles, everyone will be wanting a set. I need two already! |

I have been trying to figure out why having them clocked is a good thing. I dont have a MRC yet, but I have one on the way. Maybe I will figure it out then. I have tried to read up on the steering stuff. But I cant figure this out. Damn im such a newb at this |

One is to have the tires clear shocks & front links. With a "clocked" knuckle, the tire "wraps around" links & shocks instead of hitting them (sorta, depends on the * of clocking & the rig, the wheel pivot axes more closely resembles the shock angle). Another reason is to get a better tire bite when turning, sidehilling especially. If you just clock the whole axle on a shafty (like the MRC) you fix the kingpin angle, but mess with the driveshaft angles, also lower the driveshaft so it hits stuff more often. Clocking the knuckle fixes the kingpin angle but does NOT interfere with the driveshaft angle. In general, the driveshaft should have limited "bends" through the joints for reduced power loss. Make a little more sense now? | |

Yeah in a way. Thanks. This effects camber or caster or neither? This lets more tire contact when you turn correct? |

with more caster, it "leans" into the turn which reduces scrub angle and tire folding over essentially killing your sidehill game. When coming down from a rock onto flat ground, your steering angle is at its maximum ability because the kingpins are perpendicular with the surface below. Also when going up and negotiating a breakover, the wheel can almost cup with its sidewall lugs to pull you up and over. caster is your friend! |
