question about rover and or chisel?
 

Currently im running flat irons i love them but I keep hearing good things about the rovers and chisels. My concerns are this......My crawler is set up with the flat irons on and the rovers look wider possible than the irons? Ifso ill have some rubbing on my bent lower links and dont want that. But the chisels dont look as wide. Any input would be great.

at our lst comp there was a guy running chizles,we had some pretty steep climbs,the chizles just dont perform as well as the rovers.IMO
from what I have seen the rovers are no wider than the chizels,they are very simulare in size. The flat irons are probably wider,cuz the tread is so flat,where the rovers have a bow to them.

just went out and measured my two comp rigs (one with rovers the other with chisels). the rovers are just over an inch and a half the chisels are just under. that was trying to measure at the widest point

my rovers are mounted on dna beadlocks the chisels are on darksoul beadlocks

I run Rovers on my MRC Pro without any tire rub on the chassis, but I am also running the wide hex.

Here is a quick comparison I did some time back, Rovers/Xlocks/modded FlatIrons

The flat irons are the biggest and slightly wider I reckon, I liked them all, but stick with Rovers for great all round grip. (Xlocks were great in dry grippy rocks, flat irons ok, but could be a bit poor on smooth rock and anything wet IMO)

i have ran all those rovers worked the best and if u want a big tire like the irons i love the 1.9 tsl swampers i use the swampers on indoor courses or where height is needed and rovers on flatter terrain go swampers:mrgreen:

awesome info guys just got back from iraq not to long ago and my tires ripping where my bead-lock meets the rim pretty bad. Im gonna try the rovers looks like ill loose some clearance but gain some good grip. Thank you all for info.

As a temp fix: Rips and splits can be fixed with some good old super glue.
Make sure rubber is clean and dry, then glue and hold for a minute, should be good to go (My Rovers are cut and shut using Flat IRon side walls, so LOTS of glueing together, they are holding well)
