| Stock MRC ESC question
I just put a stock MRC ESC in my kids rig this weekend. Does any one know it the stock ESC has a Lipo cut off? Cannot find any info on Losi's website. I put in my old Axial rig with a 50t 540 motor and ran it around on 2 cells. Wondering if I could put 3 cells to if it would handle it. Worst case this rig is for a 6 year old and I guess 2 cells will be ok just need to know if it will cut off before it jacks the battery. |

It doesn't but it is safe to run a 2s as long as you stop when notice a drop in power or wheel speed. I have been running mine new MRC on the Losi lipo for a week with no trouble. If you want to be safe, then get a Novak Smart Stop.

no lipo cut-off, X2 on the Novak smart stop and 3s will make the magic smoke appear instantly

Thanks guys, all good info for sure. I'll start looking for a used Mini Mamba or Sidewinder. I thought for sure I fried the ESC and receiver yesterdays on a little test drive in the back yard, I did a back flip off some rocks and into the Koi pond. I let the RX and ESC dry out over night on top of a heating pad. Plugged it all in this morning and it all works fine. |

I'll stick up for the stock esc for a minute. I've just had the stock esc for a couple years of abuse now, it's always worked with no problems. It even runs my 5955 servo with no problems! I wish it had a lipo cutoff, I always worry a little about that. It's not a big problem I usually run for 20 minutes or so and my 1100 mah lipo still has a half charge more or less. Can I hijack for a minute-anyone have a link for a smart stop or something similar for a good price? |

Here is the 2S version. If you run 3S you need part# 5472 http://www.rcplanet.com/Novak_Smart_..._p/nvk5470.htm Quote:
