Default Novak Mongoose/No Servo power?

so i just installed the novak mongoose brushless system, it works fine, programs right up and runs good, but without the servo (Hitec mighty mini servo) plugged in. as soon as i plug in the servo the whole thing shuts off and wont turn on, but if i unplug the servo from the receiver again it works fine. from what ive read it sounds like the servo is too much for the esc? do i need an external bec or what?

If the servo can handle 7.4 and you are running a 2s battery try skipping the bec. and running your power straight off the battery.

The mongoose system has a 2A 6v BEC built in, so it should at least be able to power it without shutting off. Now in a bind, 2A might not be enough.

Not looking to hijack the thread but....

I'm running CC BEC to power my HS5955TG but how would you wire the battery straight to the servo and still run the motor? I'm sure others may be thinking the same but I'm happy to take the flack if this is a really stupid question. Apart from not having to buy a BEC is there any advantage to running the servo off the battery?

You are going to want an bec anyways. It will give you the full power to your servo that has been getting robbed. I'm not sure off the top of my head if the mongoose has an internal bec or not but it is not enough to power most heavy duty servos.
