| Losi Slider Motor
Quick question: Would this motor work for the MRC as a mostly stock replacement? http://www.amazon.com/TEAMLOSI-RX-28.../dp/B000J34FR2 Its a Losi Slider motor I believe. From what I think I remember, it would work fine and screw up to the stock motor mount fine, but just wanted to check if anyone has any experience with it. |

Bolts up perfect, has tons of wheel speed, but does lack some torque. Decent bargain buy.

What would be a comparable one price-wise that has better torque and sacrifices some wheel speed.

Keep in mind those are all go fast motors, your best bet would be to save up for a Rock hard or Holmes motor.

How can you tell if your going to get more wheel speed? I know that sometimes they go off of number of turns so lower turns = faster but less torque, so how does that compare to say a "370"? what does the number represent there?

370 is the motor can size. Most of the brushed motors in size are the same motors with different labeling, I tried about 7 370 can motors in my mini t all with similar results. I ran the slider motor in my mrc, has tons of wheel speed but lacked the torque. The mini frenzy motor for the mini lst offer alittle more torque, but none compare to my rock hard motor. |

Has anyone tried this motor. I don't have an ESC ready to go for this but I managed to get it bolted up to a MRC Pro tranny with a 14T pinion. |

I hear that castle creations has the best sensor less brushless low speed control on the market. Has anyone tried the micro sindwinder or mamba Micro pro with any sensor less brushless motor in a MRC?

i bought a Slider motor to mess with or have as a spare, and it wont bolt up to a stock mrc plate, maybe a pro or the bwd unit, but not the stocker. didnt feel like drilling the plate out but it might happen in time. was running a stump puller, comm is shot, running a HH torquemaster mini and love it, regardless of its slower wheel speed. |

so far, i have not had success with un-sensored BL motors in either of my crawlers (micro pro on an MRC, and a sidewinder on a kyosho RF) on my RF rig, i originally installed a BL motor with a CC BEC. every time i pulled the trigger, the motor would cog and drain the power from my system... meaning the ESC and radio reset every time i moved. and this is with super low gearing, and an installed BEC! with the MRC, and a 4800 kv brushless, i noticed that i had no low end control. i had 2 speed settings: fast, and really fast. i've summarily replaced them with brushed motors. the difference in performance is like night and day. i suspect that if i tried a sensored motor, i would have had better luck, but i'd already blown my budget, and the brushed motors were just sitting around anyways... so if you're intent on running BL, i would recommend a sensored motor setup. i read good things about the losi excelorin... novak seems to be hit and miss.

i also have a frenzy 370 that i pulled from a mini lst2. i've heard good things about them as well. i also ran into the fit problem, and i'm too lazy to pull the plate off for drilling the screw holes. you have a torque master mini? you lucky dog!

I went straight to the Xcelorin BL on my MRC Pro. It was a drop in fit and very smooth on the throttle, very good drag brakes and has a nifty programming card to set it up. I was going to use a brushed motor but had a hard time locating one, it seems that no one has any in stock. The only brushed motors I have are the 370 sized ones and as said before I didn't feel like taking the plate out and hacking away at it. The other option I had was the HPI 45T 280 motor but that was fine for a Micro RS4 but not for a crawler (good rpm, no torque). Bottom line is that I am very pleased with the Losi Xcelorin. |
