| how to shim the ring gear .
my mrc doesn't work smoothly as i spin the shaft , and i could feel some resistance . I think this issue result form the unproper mesh of bevel and ring (too close ) , I've checked the sticky post and that said some shim will solve this problem , but I don't know how to due with this exactly , like the size and shape of the shims , and the specific position of the shim . I think a pic will help alot , thanks . I just couldn't pinpoint my thought in English |

Well, if the mesh is too tight, you have a few options. 1) back the pinion away from the ring gear (remove a shim or grind some material from the housing) 2) shim the ring gear away from the pinion gear (put thin washers/shims on the side furthest from the ring gear teeth) If the mesh is too loose: 1) shim the back of the pinion to push it toward the ring gear 2) shim the ring gear toward the pinion gear (put the shim(s) on the side closest to the ring gear teeth) |

Jeremy is right, but one thing to be careful about. The stock setup is not always perfectly smooth. If you shim and loosen the gear mesh it might cause damage to the ring and pinion if it slips. Mine just did that and not many LHS's stock that part.
