iif your looking for a good brushed motor setup is castle creations micro sidewinder ($60 and can run brushless), crawler mafia motor or reedy stump puller.

my duaghter runs a novak mongoose and it works pretty well for what it is.

I as well went with mongoose. It just seems like it is proper choice for me. I couldn't find the system locally so I ordered it with mip shafts from rpp. I guess I should go for sets of tires now, rovers and chisels good. Is there another that is worthlookin at?

Run your stock MRC pro tires before you buy tires. They work really well.

I planed on wearin stockers out and as there is no budget constraints and I see no reason not to have 2 or 3 sets available to choose from.

That's pretty much what I'm going to pick up from RPP. I'd like to pick up a few sets of tires (rovers probably) and another set of rims.

Since this is my first leap into crawling I'm still unsure on how to go about weighting tires. I have a bunch of stick-on weight strips I use for my 1/10 short course trucks but I'm not sure how that will work. Do you put the weights inside of the rim (under the foam) or in the "well" of the rim? Or should I just buy some weighted rims?

I stuck weights on the inside of the floating ring, on the inside of the wheel itself (next to the knuckle), and on the outside of the floating ring.

I think its now about 5-6oz per front wheel now.

Is there hesitation with getting the mongoose ESC? Meaning is it not as good as other choices out there?

I am very pleased with mongoose setup. I went with this setup cause I am not fan of excelerion. An I wanted brushless not brushed mantanice purposes this is not a comp rig so the "cogging issue".which I have Yet to experience wasn't a issue for me

I have not purchased that one so I can not say but this one works. You may need to drill your wheel's center hub hole slightly larger.
