I get quite a few PM's about knuckle weights that I run on my MRC. Not a lot figure out before hand that I am running LCC knuckles and C's. I am getting the idea that not too many want to mess with the mod of adding LCC C's and knuckles because of the difficulty and the unknown's. So, I have come up with this here. I made a "mount" for the LCC C to go onto the stock MRC axles. Absolutely no mods need to be done to the MRC axle to get this to work. All you would need to do is set your caster and then drill two holes for the mount to screw into the stock holes. Pretty easy stuff. What are the benefits? Ability to run knuckle weights Infinite caster adjustment MUCH stronger LCC C and knuckle MUCH stronger steering arms and bolts MUCH stronger LCC stub shaft No more flex at the end of the axle housing No more slop from the MRC knuckle bushings Bigger bearings in the knuckle What would it take to complete the mod? Dlux mount (under $10) LCC stub shafts $8 http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...CV-Axle/Detail Knuckle weights $53 http://www.dluxfab.com/products LCC C's and knuckles, plastic is overkill on these cars, AL would be bling $8 http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...Carrier/Detail Bearings and kingpins $10? http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...ng-Pins/Detail So, about $36 for a complete mod and $90ish for a complete mod including knuckle weights. Not bad to for all the benefits. EDIT: JeremyH just pointed out that you can buy this kit for $39.95 http://www.losipartshouse.com/servle...it-cln-/Detail It looks like it will only be a couple bucks more expensive than buying individually and you get a whole lot more. I have installed one set and its amazing how the mounts really firmed up the end of the axle housing. Everything is sitting super tight and solid. Here are a couple pictures. And then,... to spice it up even more LOL. I came up with the idea of some shock/link mounts from the Berg parts I am making. I really, really like how the mounts make everything adjustable and I can put the links and shocks exactly where I want them. I have not actually installed this mount yet since I dont have a stock MRC axle of my own and I dont want to go cutting my buddies up. So, its all theory as of right now. The mount can be clocked approx every 4* to get where you want everything. You can flip the mount side to side to inboard or out board. Benefits of this mount: Move the shocks/links where you want (side to side, up and down) Ability to do a true BTA steering is much easier You can now get rid of those crappy MRC rod ends on the lower links and upgrade to a true 3mm rod end. When you strip a link mount out you are not forced to replace the axle housing Much stronger/thicker As I said, I have not actually tried the link/shock mount. I wanted to get some feedback and see if its worth the time to offer these two mods before I put more time into it. The link/shock mount will definitely need some testing. If you look at the MRC housing you will see that it does not stay round like at the end of the housing. I think the bolts and a properly ground down housing would have a good shot though. |

Oh, and if you look at the pictures in the first post you will see I had to use a cap head screw to mount into the housings. Ideally I think you would want to use a countersunk screw so you could save a bit of ground clearance. I have a limited supply of tiny screws so that is the only reason I did what I did.
