Default Just ordered MRC RTR and need some help with mods.

So today I just placed an order for my first ever RC truck. I got the MRC rtr package and picked up an extra battery. I am looking to do some mods to it when i get it but have no idea what to do. Wondering if i could get some help.

If you had $0-$50 bucks to spend what would you spend it on!

Thanks

I would start with this thread first:
The beginers guide to the MRC.

Drive it a lot and see what you want to do with it and what it is not doing that you would like to do. Then hit us back for help with those mods. There is so much you can do on these little guys that it can be a bit overwhelming.

Okay so looking around it looks like i should deff get some front/rear metal diff locker. I found a set of them!

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...l-Locker-1-MRC

Also from looking at alot of pictures of peoples MRC's it looks like alot of people have upgraded there front spindles to aluminum ones?

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Spindle-Set-2

I have seen some talk about replacing the rear lower suspesnion links to some 30* aluminum ones.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ension-Links-2

Will adding these 3 things make a good improvement to the truck? Or am i wasting my money?

Edit: I found a thread about the lockers. Looks like ill need to order 2 of the front/rear diff lockers #1433 at $12.99 each. Then ill need to order 1 center metal diff locker #1435 at $12.99 each. These are from losi.com btw.

For spindles, you may be better off getting the Zero ackerman Spindles, so then later on, you wont have to spend the extra $$$ for some Zero ackermans. But, yes Spindles are a must if your comping. they go 50/50 if your just a weekend warrior.

on the stock chassis, bent links are a must, or better straight links, because the stock losi links have rectangles on the center of the link, and get caught all the time going over a rock. it gets very annoying at times.

^^^^^^^ I thought the same thing. Why didn't you buy a Pro Roller? (I hope you got a good deal on the RTR.)

On the bright side...since it is your first, it will be good experience to do all the mods and install the necessary parts yourself. It is fun adding and changing things to get better performance. That is part of the fun with this hobby.

Enjoy.

* It may benefit you to actually buy a Pro Roller for all the parts that you will end up buying anyway (cost of individual parts vs. Pro Roller). You'll be +$35 in lockers alone, when a Pro Roller is around $75 shipped. I haven't checked, but they could be sold out.

hmmm think it would be a better idea to just get the Gatekeeper Designs GC-3 Chassis Kit first then mod off of that?

well, you may want to mod your rig first, then move over to the gate keeper...

even if you did go gc3 first, you would probably break a locker and then not run anymore, untill you got replacement parts.

Good point, and one I never thought of. It can be a daunting task to decide what you want in regards to electronics when you never have ran them. If your girlfriend takes to the RTR, you can get yourself a roller. Maybe by then you will have your 30 posts to see the classifieds and get a deal from another RCC member.

Welcome to the hobby. I started with the Losi Micro RTR to test the waters, and soon realized how fun rc crawling can be (yes, even with the micro).
