I have a mini rock crawler with all stock electronics. While crawling tonight it just stopped! The green light on the car turned off. It was off for a few minutes and I hit the reset button and it worked again. 5 minutes later it shut off, no light. Will not come back on. I did switch to a new hitec 645 servo and a 1750 mah dynamite speedpack battery a few days ago. Anyone know what the problem could be?

your issue may be bad plugs. the stock losi connectors have very bad connection, and sometimes loose contact of each other while running.. if your rig does shut off, shake the plugs and see if the esc comes back on. if this is the case, then your next step would be getting new plugs, such as Deans or Traxxas plugs |

Thanks for your reply. I just tried wiggling and jiggling all the wires and connectors. No luck! Any other thoughts?

Other than that, i cant think of anything else, since you mentioned it would just turn back on a few min later.. could it be your ESC got too hot? | |

Yeah I tried when it first happened as well. Im new to the rc world. Would changing from a mini servo to a full size servo overheat esc? Would switching from stock 1100 mah to 1750mah overheat it? Thanks again for your reply!

if in the first place, if it did over heat, then yes, adding a 1750mah will overheat your esc more. I would reccomend you buy a new esc, and an external bec from castle. this should leave you with no problems.

The stock ESC is good for what it does. Smooth and has a decent drag brake. If you are thinknig of using a higher power servo (eg/ full size), using and external BEC is highly recommened to avoid burning out the stock esc. A cheap uBEC will do (eg turnigy 3A for a few dollar/pound). remember to remove the red (middle) esc wire from the plug to the RX if using a BEC. |
