| mrc pro build - again
got the: losi mrc pro comp mongoose esc with their brushless motor 18.5 combo hi tec HS 225MG servo Futaba R614FF receiver Transmitter is 4PKS batteries: losi 7.4v 600mah 2s2p lipo max amp 860mah lipo 11.1v true 100c the problem is I got all of that built and ran the crawler and this happens: it ran for about 2 minutes and stop had to turn it off and on than ran another 2 minutes and stop the esc amber/red and yellow blink (nothing mention in the manual) reciever also flash red and green light so after about 5 tries i let the crawler idle for about 10 minutes and the servo started to twitch a little moving the wheels slightly left and right THAN spark and smoke from the servo so now its dead I'm going to rebuild again but not sure if its the esc that cause this? or the servo or battery. Not sure if I should add a Castle BEC to it or not. If that was needed? So I need your help. I'm thinking of going with a new setup esc will be the mamba micro pro esc http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...micro_pro.html servo: Futaba S9551 http://www.servocity.com/html/s9551_servo.html motor: either a brushed motor like brood mini anarchy or crawlermafia mini blacknarket Pinion: Need your help - which model and teeth # (I'm think 12) - do the motor above require a special pinion? same reciever and transmitter and battery thanks in advance |

Its not your ESC. Without pics, its a bit hard to say what. I have a couple questions (and not knowing your level of experience with your RC, I'm not trying to talk down to you): 1) with your servo and linkage all attached, the battery UNplugged, are you able to freely turn your wheels all the way left and right? If everything is freely moving without binds, you can check this off. 2) Do you have your servo limits set on the radio? Due to the fact that you are running a 4PKS, I'm assuming you have had some experience with this system and understand what I mean. In case this is not accurate, there is a setting in on your radio that allows you to adjust the steering. With the RC plugged in, go to this screen on your Radio and turn your steering limits all the way down. Turn the wheel and slowly increase the throw on the radio until it is as far as the servo is able to push. I'd step it back a little bit from the max and you will be set. Finally, I see that you are running a 225MG. That, most likely, is your problem right there. You really need a full-size servo and luckily the MRC Pro Servo tray has the appropriate holes to allow you to run the larger servo. I wouldn't go with anything smaller than an 645MG. Even this servo is a bit under powered. I'm running big time over kill on my with a 7955TG so I wouldn't recommend anything that high. Finally, I'd get a BEC and wire it right to the servo after programming it to the appropriate voltage with the Castle Creations castle link. Its the best way to get the most performance out of the servo. The appropriate voltage can be found on the servo box. Hope this helps. Edit: Looks like the Futaba S9551 will have plenty of push for this application. I'm a big fan of the Novak Mongoose Brushless system. I have two that run very well. It also come with a pinion to run with the stock spur. It is a few bucks cheaper than the CC system. SECOND EDIT: Running this battery with a 100C discharge is DEFINITELY the reason your fried your servo. max amp 860mah lipo 11.1v true 100c You want to be in the 20-40C range Last edited by TC09mini; 09-01-2011 at 02:21 PM. |

TC09mini Thank you for the response Yes its the 225MG servo and the battery that was causing me all of that problem Waiting for the S9551 o arrive in the mail But I guess I need to order the Castle BEC - http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSWL3&P=ML I do not know what you mean by "...programming it to the appropriate voltage with the Castle Creations castle link. " Do I need to also by the Castle Creation Link too? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGVR8&P=M So using the batteries: losi 7.4v 600mah 2s2p lipo is good to go But if I use the Castle BEC and the Futaba S9551 servo, I should be able to use the max amp 860mah lipo 11.1v true 100c? Yes? Thanks again |

| lol, yah, i just get used to doing the brake manually, and the lipo cutoff im not worried about, because on all 5 of my planes, i dont have a single lipo cutoff and havent had any problems, as soon as it seems dead, i start recharging it on my lipo charger.....
