| MRC Rover/Sidewall Grinding
I know this has been a bit of a new effort in the Berg community, but in the same spirit that guys are grinding off the sidewalls some of the sedona's, has anyone ever taken a grinder to the 1.9 rovers to soften them up some. I definitely sipped my tires but I am wondering if this grinding thing is a decent idea. Unless someone can offer a strong suggestion to not do it I may try it and will report back.

Don't have an answer but do you have a pic of your siped tyres there?

Neiloid. The siping thing is essentially exactly what guys have been doing with a cuttoff wheel and a dremel on the 2.2 tires. If you look at the tire you will see some natural grooves in the rubber. If you take some lexan scissors to the tire you will be siping the tire. I did grind off my sidewalls but have not run the tires yet. Check out my build thread for pics. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showt...86#post3297186 |

Ground the lugs off the sides of my 1.9 rovers to keep from climbing inside of wedged obstacles..it really seems to make a difference though I had to lighten the rig a little. I also shortened the big lugs on the rears to help break them loose. One thing to remember is that the tires really softened up when shaved, so you may need to tune your foams or do as I did and just run a little lighter.....good mod overall.
