Default 540 in a mini?

Considering getting my daughter a mini comp kit for Christmas, is it possible to fit a 540 size motor in a mini, I have a friend who fit a 540 in a Traxxas 1/16 slash and he loves it.

There is no reason too try, unless you just want to.

Can you? I'm sure you can,but its gonna take some modding, possibly modding a per motor mount to fit will get a good start.

280 motors are fine...

I would suggest a mongoose for your girl,it will be great for here, cheaper and easier to install too.

A 540 in a mrc will kill the poor little thing. way too much motor IMO.

I say No, 2 big. Second question would be WHy would you want to?
For speed can do alot with motors that are made for thier size.
Crawlers arn't made to go fast Hence the word Crawler.
If want speed just get a brushless motor like one i have for sale
And work with your pinion gear. I may be wrong also 540 may fit. Just saying what I think.

just like the tag line, you want as much horsepower without anyone knowing how much you have. I have just been plagued with hot motors in everything I have. It seems like a larger motor at half speed would last longer than a small motor at full speed. Thanks for the input

but you wouldn't want to put a DT466 in a motorcycle now would you?

then you probaly need to check your gear mesh and gear ratios on all of your rigs, if they all have heat issues.

a 540 motor is 1/3 of the weight of a rtr mini comp rig anyways, heck... a 540 wouldnt even fit in the mini pro chassis. just go with the Novak mongoose system. stays cool and has more than enough power and wheel speed.

Plus, as stated, it would tear up the drive train. Some moded 280 motors can play heck with the drivetrain. A 540 would cost more in drivetrain repairs than anything. And the amp draw would suck the life out of any battery you could fit in the crawler. you'd end up going back to a 280 fairly quick, bet!

Of course now, after looking mine, if you hand made a frame mounted bracket so that the motor sat in front, right behind the servo between the frame rails.....It would center the weight and drive off the right side of the tranny....hmmmmmm
