Default Pro Roller vs. RTR

I am debating the merits and the cost of each option.

I have been out of the RC hobby for quite a while. I have a pan car that I built 14 years ago. The car has served me well for the last 14 years with out many problems. I decided recently that I want to get a crawler and the Losi Mini Rock Crawler is the one that I want to go with.

I know that a lot of technology has changed in the last 14 years. If I go with a pro roller would it be worth it to upgrade to a more modern radio control system or is my 14 year old Futaba set up still considered good enough? Would I be able to use the esc and steering servo out of the pan car? I would think that the esc for a crawler would be more sensitive than the one in my old pan car but I'm not sure. I am pretty sure that I would not be able to use the old motor.

Also how much money would I be looking at spending to get a budget build pro roller?

Upgrade to a 2.4 ghz I got a HK-300 for 21 bucks new on ebay, awesome radio.
And go with the PRO ROller. Youl want to upgrade anyhow sooner or later so may as well it comes with a lot more upgraded parts. Thats what most members will tell you also prolly. Theres tons of aftermarket parts for these also. And you can have a pretty worth comp rig also I might ad.

Welcome back into the Hobby.

I'd say go Pro Roller, I have both and I like the Pro a lot better.

My Pro setup was less than $200, so it's very very budget, yet it performs pretty darn well.

Here's a link to my build, good luck!! Voteban's Mini-Pro Build!
