Even though I haven't busted a CVD since running the LCC stub axles, 90% of the ones I have had fail in the past broke on the shaft side. Since this is my primary comp rig, I wanted to know that I could use the full 403 oz of torque my servo puts out without having to worry. That meant running the full LCC axle, shaft and all. After buying the DLUX adapters and other parts, I cut and ground the axles till I was happy with the fit and put it all together. To round out the upgrade, I installed a set of BWD Bomb Proof shock/link mounts MRC Rear Pro Bomb Proof Shock/Link Mounts - Black on the rear. With all the changes, I had a lot of tuning/testing/altering to do on the link geometry, but now that it's done, this thing crawls better than ever. I even managed to get an extra couple of degrees steering out of the mod. Okay, so I've blabbed enough, on to the pictures! And the BWD Bomb Proof shock/link mounts installed: And since I have thus far neglected to post the obligatory flex shots, I have these. Some might say this is a tad more flex than necessary, but I like for my rigs to be a little on the soft side; it works for me, and that's what counts. That's a 2.2 Hammer, BTW. Nice job...I was wondering about throwing a VP servo armor on my rig...now I'm gonna have to do it I also chose to install the inner shafts when I did the LCC mod...it's fairly straight forward...just takes the time to make sure everything works together. I'm a big fan of having the peace of mind to throw the steering all the way and throttle out of a bind One thing though...get that tie rod up and out of the way! |

Good deal...I used a 110mm Lunsford link and bent it to shape and ran it up and under the servo ...two bends closer to the ends makes it work out great |

Don't think I left enough room under the servo to go there, but I'll take a look. Thanks!

Did you shorten the posts on top of the axle housing?

Yes, I shortened them by almost half their original height. I left just enough to feel confident that the screws had enough bite to keep the servo from twisting loose. It seems to have helped my incline climbs quite a bit. Last edited by papabash; 03-29-2012 at 09:56 AM. |

The long one I made from Delrin, the short one is a titanium link I had left over from something.

Spent some time in the shop last night, even though it was temporary, it was eating at me to have the steering hanging so low. I got to work and stayed with it until I had it figured out; I think this will work just fine. Even with the lowered servo, I was able to fab an arm to fit underneath and out of the way that's plenty strong and achieves full steering. Hopefully ittybitty approves! Thanks JD, that means a lot coming from you! I absolutely, positively recommend the LCC conversion, I just wish I had done it sooner! I ordered the stuff to convert my son's rig as well, he has broken 3 CVD's in the last 2 comps (we drive 'em hard). |

Do you run the BWD Bomb Proof Shock Mounts? Do you have to run them with this chassis for the best performance? I just went through this whole thread and I couldn't find any good pics of the shocks and link mounts.

I should check your build thread more often You keep doing some cool chit to your rig Dave. I havent even taken my 1.9 off the shelf in a loooong time. can I just ship mine to you so you can do the LCC mods for me (I guess I better dust it off since Im running it at ECC huh.?) NICE WORK |

| Re: Papabash's Team BWD 'Low-Pro' Wedge Build Yes, but only in back. When I went to the LCC front end, the only available option I know of for converting is DLUX's shock mount/adapters, so I have them in front. Quote:

If you want to send me your rig to do the LCC mod, that would be fine........I'll try to have it back to you the weekend after the State Crawl-Off. I think a little wheel time might be in order for the ECC, for sure! | |

Do you need wideners with the LCC conversion? I didn't notice it at the top of this page. |
