Default Getting started. Now wait on mail man...

I ordered this:

Novak Mongoose Micro Crawler ESC/380 Brushless Crawler (NVK3055)

and this:

Losi LOSB1446 Out-Board/Outboard Shock Spacers Kit (4): 1/18 Mini-Rock-Crawler

I installed all new bent links and did the Traxxas overdrive modification.

Question?

Do you feel the aluminum gears are a cost effective upgrade? I can't decide if this money should be spent on something else first. Any input would be appreciated.

My next purchase would be the lockers, upgrade to metal front and rear, and if you can center. Although, i havnt had to yet, but i stripped both front and rear on both my rigs within the first month :(

Already have metal lockers on the mini pro kit. I took front and rear apart tonight and regressed and inspected.

What is "center"?

In the transmission, but since you have pro then it should have it.

you mean the gears for the transmission if so there is mixed reviews on them. guys run them but they do strip out thats also not with the rtr motor either but so do the stock ones. you can upgrade or just wait till the stocks strip. the center spool would be a waste since you have a pro, i think a couple guys are running the metal gears and plastic gear with the losi center locker also. hope that helps.

My son and have two mrc pros, both have the HR al tranny gears. We have had no problems with them. And i think they are a must.

Did either of you ever strip the plastic gears? I'm going to wait on the new motor and see how long the gears hold up.
Do you use a metal motor gear as well (pinion gear)?

I have always immediately changed out the plastic gears to the HR gears, so I really don't know how well the plastic holds up. I try to make my rigs as bullet-proof as possible, though. IMO, if the gears are plastic, change them out, 'nuff said.

Ill say that my stock gears worked great for a while, I blew them once and thats all it took. From then on, everytime I played with the lil truck, the stock gears would blow, so I bought the HR ones and have not looked back

Who's the HR gears? Are they different than any of the other metal gears out?

Looks like metal gears will stay on the list of stuff to get.

HR..... Hot Racing.

Everyone abbreviates around here, lots of lazy typers.

Oh yeah, the report post button.... it's for a problem or if someone is breaking the rules. It's not a tech hotline button.

I have no experience with the new motor coming my way. From what I've read, it should be more powerful than stock. I'll run the plastic gears until they give up, then go to metal ones. I look forward to trying to break the stock ones.
