I didnt know so many were looking for non clamping horns like I was.

I also am using a HiTec on my 2.2 with great results.

Well I feel like a lurker with out having anything to post lately.. so here it is..

I have been on a stand still without knuckle weights.. I wasn't taking my xr Dlux weights of my xr an the vp weights were too big of diameter for the 1.9's.. well I just picked up a ax-10 with blue monkey wraith weights..

I was a little thrown by the fitment an setup of this weight system, to say the least.. to tighten the sides down on the round part of the knuckle, makes no logic to me.. so I drilled an tapped new holes, above the round part. They also didn't sit deep enough to clear the wheels, since they are the same diameter as vp.. so I dremeled some as well.

It gave just enough room to clear but not as much as it looks like in the pic..

Other then that, they look real good one there as is..

So I got a scale an now I can weigh rtr.. I'm sitting a touch over an I mean a touch over, like .0385, 2lbs 8oz even.

So I got out to crawl today an Man did it make a Huge diff! Rig is working back at top notch!

Turning up hill on a side hill, with no problems, flat out working! Verticle, no problem.

All the flex needed is there..

.

The front right will lift a touch then plant itself right back down.. tho the shocks need rebuilt.. they don't seep, they straight leak! That's what I get for not rebuilding them when I built them, from old used mini-t shocks.

Rear tire floating.. thought it looked cool..

Thanks for lookin

That's a sweet little rig you've got there! I wish I hadn't sold my Baby Mantis :( It's the best mini chassis IMO! Those deans plugs look a little outa perportion to the rest of the rig... time to stick some micro deans on there!

By far, I feel its the best mini chassis I have ran! I have a long list of the top mini chassis I have built an ran too..
Mini juice, gc3, pro, sling shot, Bwd wedge pro, etc..
This little shit is wicked!
Micro deans have been floating around in my head for it, I just haven't made it that far. As I would need to change them out on half dozen batteries plus.. that an it limits what batteries I can use.. sometimes I grab a 350-450 3s to throw in it for long run times.. not like I don't have enough to run long enough tho.. I'm on it!

I wish I knew! I by far think it would be well worth making a batch of an would help boost 2.2 sales on the mantis as well.
Tho from talkin with Don, I'm not sure it is goin to have a future. :(
Now this is just my take on it, not that Don said it wouldn't ever be made.
I think there would have to be a good bit of interest shown in the chassis for it to get a run made.
I'm stoked I got a chance at one! It will be in my collection for as long as its in one piece.

I really hope they become available. I just got rid of my 2.2 xr mantis to focus on 2.2s (bwd SSS-r). Just need a 1.9 torsion to stay with the bwd torsion I love.

I keep thinkin of getting a white 2.2 mantis.. we shall see what this year brings.. heck, if I get bearings, I may have all the stock parts to make a spare set of axles..

When Mitchell had his I think Don was still planning on producing it but he was just waiting for J.D. to say it was good and than he was going to start producing it... But now even though there are people that will buy it if it becomes available IDK if it will be totally worth it... But we'll see It's a great chassis when tuned well... And can kick the ass off of many of the other top mini chassis...

Oh boo who.... When ur bro had it, when ur bro had it, when ur bro ran his........ :banghead:

That was a long time ago! Hell, you coulda only been 13-14 then..

This chassis is sick! Tuning aside, cause I have ran it thru the whole build process, not bought built! It flat out works....

J.D. passed his word to me.. I say well worth it!
Season starts soon an we will let the scores speak for them selves..

Hmmf... You just shut up

LOL I turned 15 the week after he sold it... not even close to 13...

Yeah exactly... Tuning is a little more touchy for sure but Norm built it soo well it had like everything needed to be a very nice comp ready crawler

Yep and you'll have another chassis too to let the scores talk about

If norm already had it so well built, how do you get to talk bout what testing or tuning it needs?
So other then ur brother bought a built one, then sold it the same way, you jump in a say what it can or can't do an what testing it needs or doesn't need? Also you talk bout what its worth to make a run of them or not make a run of them?

Yep, ill have another one to test. But unless its comparable to my mini mantis, it won't ever see a podium.. can't run two of them at a comp, then the first one is considered prerunning..

The 1.9 torsion won't be Bwd.. it will be full torsion like the sss, not just the tail like the mantis..
