So Crawllife approached me about making tubes to fit XR shafts into his MRC. So these are what I came up with.

Specs:
-Traxxas 7079 gear set(to use the pinion for overdrive)
-VP Wraith knuckles
-Plastic chubs
-XR universals
-Custom 6061 hard anodized links. 6-32 threaded ends, threaded into 3mm traxxas rod ends
-CreationFab MRC to XR10 tubes

Modification is simple. As seen in the pic below, you sand down the mounting surface the stock chub rides on to match the diameter of the axle housing. It will come out to about 10.7mm. Sand a little at a time until the tube slides on tight. Failure to do this will result in very lose mounting.

Trim your shaft down to 54mm between the outside edge that the bearing rides against, and the end of the shaft. From there you grind your own flat spots for the drive tang, and youll also need to sand about 1/4" off the end of the 5mm part seen in the below pic down to the smaller diameter of the shaft. It will rub really hard on the inside of the MRC housing if you dont.

What parts will you need for this mod?:

-XR10 universals(have to be trimmed down
-XR10/Wraith Chubs(I recommend stock plastic or VP)
-Wraith VP steering knuckles(or stock plastic with the double sheer shaved off)
-4 knuckle bushings
-4 3x10mm button head screws for the knuckle-chub mounting
-4 3x6mm button head screws to mount chub to tube
-4 5x11x4 bearings
-2 11x15x4 bearings
-New steering linkage of your choice.

An amazing product Chris keep up the innovative work! and do these adapters widen your track if so how much or do they just enable you to do the XR mod?

It does widen it. Id have to measure how much. I didnt pay much attention to that

Everyone keep a close eye on my thread. Next week when I take possession of this I'll be posting overall widths, weights and be showing steering capability and even steering link options. Chris has been great in keeping me involved with this. I really think with all the 2.2s rigs that are switching to xr mod, this is the no brainer 1.9 adapter to bring this mod to everyone in the mini game!

This is a cool setup. This really was what someone needed to do a long time ago instead of sleaving the XR/MRC axles. I for one did not have the skill to pay that bill though. Now I am really debating whether I should do this to my rig.
