Why did losi discontinue the mini's?
 

I have been out of crawling for a few years 3-4, and just getting back into it. The 1/18th scale was always my favorite. So im thinking I'll grab me a new mini pro and go from there, except for the fact that there are no longer available. What happened to them, and why did losi stop production?

Losi still have them under the Vaterra brand Slickrock 1/18th Rock Crawler (VTR01003): Vaterra

Because they renamed them Vaterra Slickrocks. They're the same car, just a different name, body, and wheels.

The slick rock isn't a "copy", really.. Vaterra bought out losi?
So, it is a mrc.. Just with a "scale"/"wraith" look..

Same axles, same tranny, same parts.. :thumbsup:

Sweet! New guy looking to get into crawling and was looking into the mrc but saw they were discontinued and found one on ebay but was worried about parts support .

This is good to know! I love my mrc and would like to get another. Even stock it's pretty sweet. I wish I could still buy the micro crawler.

They still sell all the parts so I made one of my own using the parts explosion to find the right parts

So it is still possible!

How much did that wind up costing? Might be cool to do that and use one of the aftermarket chassis from eBay. I keep hoping to find someone who has gotten bored with one. I think small scale indoor crawling can be a lot of fun. I enjoy marking courses for my mrc. With a 1/10 servo, 2s lipo mounted on the axle, and a little tweaking even a mostly stock truck amazes me. Then again it's the only true crawler I've ever been around.

I used to comp these things, but the local club disappeared and I still have a new MRC-Pro (carbon fiber) in a sealed box I bought as a spare. PM if you'd rather it be in your garage than mine. Be sure what you're buying -- Google LOSA0101.

SOLD. But I know of another. Also still sealed in original packaging. He's not on the forum, but I'll sell it for him. PM me.

Losi and vaterra are both owned under the horizon brand. There was no buying or selling they just switch it over to the vaterra name.

Sad for me to see Losi traded like a magic card.
I remember those day of old when Losi was the only contender to the RC10.
