Default Shock caps?

I want to do the shock cap mod on my shocks but I can't seem to find just the shock caps. And I don't want to buy another full set of shock just for the caps. Anyone have any part #'s?

Best you guys can do is look for the part number for the shocks themselves under both the Vaterra AND Losi part numbers. That I know of, the caps weren't sold separately, and even whole sets are getting hard to come by. I had the best results searching Google itself for VTR313001 and LOSB1439. Even then you'll end up digging through all the results to find somebody that has the Losi PN in stock. Another option, pick up some SCX10 shocks and get to moddin'.

I've looked every where for just the shock caps and all I could find was the the whole set of 4 shocks. And I've looked under the losi and vaterra part #'s.

These are the shocks I have:

Dew et!!!! We need caps!!!

They are losi late model shocks.. They can still be found.. They are just shorter then pro shocks..

But cut the tab off and screw a pro shock cap on, and they are easier to mount.

Not off the shock caps!
Cut the nub off the shock so the cap can go/thread on!

That's what I thought. I can cut the little tabs off with my dremel and then just put them in my drill press and fill them flat. I just can't find the damn caps them self. Might just shorten a traxxas rod end and do a cap mod. Worst comes to worst I'll just cut down a set of scx10 shocks.

What other shock caps would work if any?

depends on the threading. If I can dig up my shocks ill take a measure of the thread size for you. Usually it is metric on those things

Cool, that'll help a bunch. I'll have to look at my shocks to see what all I'd have to do to put a rod end on it.

sounds good. If you want I can do the cap mod for you on my lathe, being I can roll-tap the threads they may seal a tad better

Or if you want some "crazy origin" style shock caps, I can maybe do something like that. A screw-on style cap

I've been thinking. I might either do what you suggested and see if you could make some caps for me, or I might have some work for you. I was reading this for ideas and also reading Dravpnir's thread. Basically take 15mm of a scx shock shaft and 11mm off the body. Since you have access to a machine shop, you came to mind. But that's just an idea for now until I get my tax refund and my bike stuff all sorted out which should be in the next week or two.

I'd be interested in a couple sets of whatever you come up with.

I've got one mini here with Late Model shocks like the picture above. There's just no "good" way to attach them to the crawler.

Another mini has the Pro shocks, but we all know the snap on ball style connection wears out and can get loose at the worse possible times.

If you came up with a screw on cap with a 3mm pivot ball (similar to SCX) I think you could make a lot of mini owners happy.

I'd love a solid 3mm bolt connection like the SCX shock. No worries about getting loose, and you can use spacers to fine tune shock angles.

Put me on the list.

so there is no confusion show me what you got in mind. My idea was to make them so you can screw on say revo and other shock ends but I maybe able to find a way to make them with the said rod end size

I'm guessing he means something like the top shock. Basically just a shock cap that threads on and is one piece and has a cap that you can just pop a ball into.

Kinda. Like a regular scx10 shock cap but for a mrc that can hold a regular ball made for a 3mm screw.
