Slick Rock torque twist cute.

I dare say it's pretty much common knowledge that the biggest problem with the stock SR's performance is torque twist.
Well, I think I've found a cheap cure.
Grab the REAR sway bar kit for the Twin Hammers.

Fit them to the lower arms on the Slick rock.

They need to be secured to the skid plate too.

I'd recommend removing the skid plate to drill the holes as there's a rib that runs on top of it so you need to make sure the holes are in the right place.
I fitted the soft bar to the front, medium to the rear.
Torque twist gone!"thumbsup"
There is no noticeable loss of wheel travel either so as far as I can tell there are no downsides to doing this.
Huge improvement to performance even on the stock tyres with no added weight. Largely, I'd say, due to the fact that all four tyres are in contact with the ground all of the time. ;-)
All I need to do now is try and find a neater way to fix the sway bars to the lower arms.

Probably the best solution to the problem after 4-linking it and this way is a lot cheaper.

Basically just zip tied the wire to the lower links and the center skid(and forgoing the rest of the sway bar kit)? I've been waaaay overthinking adding sway bars to my build...

If you've got some wire that's a suitable thickness/ stiffness you don't need the TH kit either.
As I said, I used a bike spoke.

Piano wire works great too.

I admit I know nothing about the Slickrock, but how does changing the suspension to 4-link eliminate the torque-twist?

Here is what I was told, which sort of answers the question. If you watch the little thing twist, you can sort of see how the single point of the 3 link design attaching to the axle contributes to it.

I think its the link geometry that helps prevent the torque twist, but im not 100% on that. I do know the upper link design on the mrc doesnt do so well and thats why most go for a true four link design. The pivot at the axle on the stock upper link just allows it to flop around.

I was originally drawn to rc crawling by the customization that can be done. Make something and try it out, if it doesnt work then try something else! No two crawlers are alike, each has their own personality and capabilities.

As for yoir earlier qiestions on axle gearing, whether or not to do the overdrive, I would say keep them stock for now and see what speeds you get from the trans swap. I know those have two gearing options internally, start with the low option and if it isnt fast enough for your tastes go for the higher gearing, and if that still isnt enough start playing with pinions and spur gears.

Keep it up, I havent wrenched on mine in a minute, I need more funds!
