Default MRC scale build motor heat issue

Hello,

I'm looking to turn my mrc into a scale trail rig. I but the 400kv motor and esc out of my mini eight in the mrc. After running around the garage for a few minutes the motor is super hot. I just purchased the mad max transmission out of there mini rock cralwer say a vid of it driving at speed with no problem. Any ideas on what to do to the tranny to reduce hear? I'm running a 64 spur, and a 16 pinion on 2s lipo. Also any good chassis out there?

Thanks for the help

Hey,

For electronics:
I guess you mean 4500 kv BL motor from mini8.
This motor have a hight RPM for scale / crawling. Even if you use a 11t pinion on motor, i m not sur you will reduce ratio enough.
Maybe you should try a higher torque motor (lower kv), you will increase run time and decrease warm. After that, you could use 1.55" rims / tires...
another option is to put an aluminium heat sink.

Yes you may need both. Also. Check for binding of wheels drive shafts etc you could have a bad bearings some where. Also you will want a sensored brushless combo.

I checked the axles and the transmission no binding that I can find. Do you have any motor suggestions, I saw on here something about a helicopter motor, I have burned up the stock losi motor twice, and I installed the atomic fireball 18 turn brushed motor with stock esc. The motor and esc got hot after two minutes of driving around the living room.

Hi,

Have you tried to use a 11t or 12t pinion motor ?
- check this thread for motors: Motors

- esc for brushed / brushless: castle micro sidewinder

I installed the exceed max stone transmission. You have to use the skid that comes with the transmission. The out put shafts are bigger so I drilled the ones for the stock MRC out to fit. The Crawler is much faster no heat issues with the motor now. Now all I need is for tcs chassis to get off out of stock.
