So I began my morning with a chassis and a bodied mini (which was rocking a earlier model Dravpnir chassis)

It was Not a direct swap over!

I feel Tobias put some serious work and dimension crunching into the SuduZero!

Quick mach up.. I realized, I needed to play with links..
I swapped the front lower white BWD links out for black BWD links, with some dremel work to thin them out a little.. (Trying to get all the white back, to rebuild my BWD mini mantis)

Then I replaced the rears with some ti lowers off of a ytc mini BJ.. Which I had to put longer link ends on one end. Which worked out perfect!
CF uppers in the rear..
And still have to get front uppers dealt with..

I then moved to the shocks.. The fronts seemed to be perfect.. Tho the rears where a little tall..

I internally limited the rears by 5mm.. Turned out to be alot on the outside! Which put me right where I wanted to be...
Outdoor pics...

Just bolted the uppers on, for building purposes.. (They belong to the mini mantis, as well)

Off to a July 4th family picnic..

Ok, so in real time, the picnic was, bed time.. Lol..

Now to catch you up completely..

The dimension crunching comes in, Now! It all revolves around the skid, that impressed me/slowed me down yesterday..
First I dropped the tranny in and thought "Great this got printed wrong".. I then pulled my head away from my one sided view and took a breath.. "Oh, my pinion is mounted backwards on the motor pinion" (it was hitting the chassis on the passenger side) duh..
Pulled that off.. Now the motor shaft is hitting the chassis.. (Scratching head) ..
Better find a motor plate spacer..

See Tobias moved the mounting holes, as far too the driver side and forward, as much as possible, to get the motor centered and forward as possible. Which in All my mini days and All my mini chassis, I have Never seen done! Saaweeet!
With a motor plate and pinion mounted correctly, is as snug as a bug in a rug!

Oh yeah.. BWD motor plate users.. Get your dremel/file ready.. Had to notch that too.

Mounted..

Battery, nanotech 300mah 2s, fits on the motor..

I can even move the bec off the driver side of the tranny and in the chassis.

That centers all the weight and makes it manageable, in the chassis..
Rx on the front links..

Rtr... (Minus new front uppers)

Will get some pics on the rocks, after church.. Update tonight! ;)

It is good too see it arrived securely and you are already started building. I am looking forward to hear how you you like it on the rocks

Yes, it is a bit tight between the pinion and the lower plate. I have actually change the skid model now and moved the whole transmission 2 mm backwards. That should make it easier for people to set it up. I had to use the spacer that came with the Xtreme 380X motor to be able to make everything fit. I am thinking of making a small CF spacer in the size of the Xtreme spacer and include it with the chassis so it will be easier for people to use whatever motor they got.

Started building!? Lol.. Started Crawlering!!!! ;)

Tuning already in process, with 1 pack down..

A bit tight.. It's All a bit tight! Lol..
Had the front uppers in the 3rd hole up.. Was getting touch bite to the rear.. Moved down a hole.. And things got Real tight!

Here, this might help you see the paper spacing..

Nut to MIP spacing..

Now for thicker rear shock oil and maybe raising the rear uppers.. And front uppers need made..

First impressions, compared to my bench worries..

Ground clearance seems spot on, compared to thinking the clearance/lack of skid rake, was going to be a issue..

Shock and link geo leaves plenty of options for tuning.. Now just to find the sweet spot!

I might be switching to a 4mm propeller shaft, in the front.. With the tranny moved forward and My preferred front axle positioning, the MIP is a little tight on angle.. (Good thing it is Well broke in!)

Hehe, I like it tight...
Luckily, both these issues should be better with the new version of the skid.

Sounds like MRC shocks and "normal" MRC axles will work fine with this chassis then

Or time to upgrade to some proper axles... (when they get ready...)
With the DravTech Mini axles the front drive shaft is almost straight

Looking good Troy, nothing like waiting until the last min. Does the nose clear your servo when it is compressed?

No worries Tobias, I'll be swapping to your full axle setup, when available!

I'm going to rebuild the mini mantis with these axles. Now that my son is crawling, my daughter wants her own!

Good thing you said "normal" and not Stock.. Lol..
Cause "normal" is XR modded, anymore.. For serious comp guys.

Yes sir, John..
Plenty of clearance..

I'm having/was having some TT issue's.. Which are normally pretty easy to work out..
But sometimes, your use to something being a certain way for so long, you don't even look at it. Not as part of a problem or Remedy..

The rear shocks just kept acting funny.. Then I thought of something I told a guy at the BC comp a couple weeks ago..
The rear shocks, just ever so slightly, where rolling over..
See, before I swap a chassis, I check everything! Right down to shock spacing..
The new chassis is a touch wider then the last few.. And this one is exactly as much wider as my shock spacers.

They are out of the rear, in the pic..

It was a Huge jump away from TT.. Problem is, the spacers are so the shock caps don't hit the chassis.. :/
So 1 spacer went back, in the rear.
Not as good, but still better then before!

So tomm, I'll be adding some external limiting to the rear shocks. Or maybe standing them up a hole..

I have another 3 packs thru it now. It's a awesome crawler! Just need to dial out the TT I'm dealing with and it will be ready for the NENC!

Maybe/hopefully following in Samu's tracks or atleast Tobias's, from the SuduZero's Big debut!

John.. I didn't even start the scale rigs, nor do I have a pro rig.. I got plenty of time! Right? ;)

Shafty and mini are rtr tho!

EDIT: Shat! I forgot the cool stuff!

During a convo with Tobias, the 4mm SDS shafts where mentioned..

I happen to have one.. So to rule out the TT issue's being from the front drive shaft, I changed it out!

Here's a size comparison to the MIP

And a pic of my dremeling disorder..

I felt some binding in hand, so I drove the pins out and modded them like the XR unis for smoother steering.. Lol.. (These little SOB's are tiny!)

No rush at all Troy, it would not be a comp if we were not putting someones rig together the night before or the day of an event. Get working on that SUPER.

The super's out.. :'( getting a couple extra rigs ready for Aiden, really adds to the list! Not to mention trying to get in drive time..

Thoooo... I have been getting it in with the SuduZero!

A couple more packs ran.. Rear upper links moved up a hole.. Rear shocks back a hole.. Rear uppers moved down a hole, rear shocks limited..

Now that I'm narrowing down there TT and got it pretty well under control, I'm going to do a little tuning on the front..

I feel there is going to be some solid crawling to come out of the Zero!

So, back to the SuduZero!???
The more a drive and tune, the more I likey!
It's crawling better and better.. Like crawling one handed is more controlled now, then both hands and paying attention, from when it started!

It seems to glide over the rocks, TT is worked out, crawls Great, and looks dam Sexy doing it!

Final test run before OK'n it.. I moved the front shocks back a hole.. Things are good!

I think I better slow down, I'm going to wear the red off the skid! ;)

Onto cleaning it up... Out with the old and haggled together (2yrs ago when just learning to solder) and in with the new and clean...

Once I get some panels on, it should be clean as can be.

My next update will be panel's and then Sunday will be to find out if the SuduZero does good in America or just international!

I am glad you liked it and was able to tune it to your liking. If you do not mind would you please share the link lengths with me?

When you wore down that skid let me know and I will put up the skid on Shapeways

Good luck at the NENQ!

It's good to see more SuDu Zero's being built! Especially in the hands of experienced 1.9 driver! Rig looks awesome, and knowing the performance from the rig of Tobias, you're gonna take some "easy" trophies with this thing.

Best of luck to NENC!!

Ps. Take a reverse or two, so the others won't start crying immediately after the ceremony.
